BSNL Launches Wishtel IRA Icon 3G Tablet – Specs & Features

Aakash tablet continues to flop the show and its second commitment of Aakash 2 too got delayed. Soon Aakash tablets alternatives hit the store and one of them is the Mumbai based Wishtel coming out with cheaper Android tablet with brand name as IRA. Until now Wishtel have launched Ira, Ira Thing and Ira Icon tablet which are priced at Rs 4,000, 5,000 respectively. They have recently launched IRA Thing 2 tablet as well recently and here comes the 3G tablet variant.

Wishtel has approached the state owned BSNL telecom operator to come up with interesting plan with their tablets. Dubbed as the IRA Icon 3G tablet is been introduced in the country poised for the low cost Android tablets. This tablet is the part of the Wishtel’s line up of products by the company. Representative from Wishtel said that the tablet will be priced at Rs 10,500 and we find it little higher than the top manufactured Indian tablets.Wishtel Ira Icon 3G

Going through the specifications of the Wishtel IRA Icon 3G tablet, its sets different from all the other tablet in the IRA lineup as this one is introduced with the 3G internet connectivity options. The BSNL 3G provides the cheaper 3G plans than any other telecom operator and their partnership is right

During the launch event, Wishtel said that they would be launching these tablets with pre-installed various apps such as media player, Skype, Google Talk thanks to Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. The tablet is with 7 inches capacitive touchscreen display with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS and provides a maximum resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. Powered with 1.2 Ghz single core processor with 1 GB of RAM and includes the 3G internet access connectivity. With 4,000 mAh battery  it provides a 4 to 5 hours of battery life only. The IRA Icon 3G tablet supports voice calls as it includes the dual SIM slot and Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP).

Wishtel Ira Icon 3G tablet has the following specifications –

  • 4000 mAh battery
  • 4 GB of internal storage

Every tablet will be sold bundled with BSNL 3G SIM card and 2GB of data for two months. At Rs 10,500 we find it little higher than the normal tablet PC pricing like Micromax Funbook, Funbook Pro and lot many tablets. This tablet will be sold starting early next month from various reseller and distributors.

    Can you please compare screen quality of various tablets (display quality, maximum brightness, viewing angle, colour reproduction)? I feel this is one area where tablets differ a lot.

    2GB of 3g data only with BSNL docomo is way ahead of it . It has started giving 3g data only for RS250 which is pretty affordable for me

    Hi Yogesh,

    Just a quick question,if you don’t mind,
    I Had brought a new karbonn a18 phone which comes with ice cream sandwich
    it has default some applications pre installed,how can i remove those,
    can i install other build of any ice cream sandwich in that phone,
    any help is appreciated,thanks
