Micromax has launched yet another budget Android phone in the market, with the model number A69, which has got a 3.8-inch capacitive touchscreen, and internally a 1GHz processor and a few other standard entry-level specs, all priced at Rs. 6,190 in the Indian market. As of now, it is just Flipkart which is selling the phone on their website, and the 1 GHz Mediatek MT6577 processor included in the device is similar to that of the Micromax A110 and the A90S launched earlier by the company.
The A89 has got a 3.79-inch capacitive touchscreen display having a screen resolution of 800 x 480 pixels while the video playback is possible to upto 720p quality. This is a Dual-SIM mobile having the capability to support two GSM SIM cards at the same time, and both of them support the 3G network connectivity. The operating system included in the Micromax A89 Ninja is the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich version, and there’s 512MB of RAM for the multitasking support.
The phone has a single rear camera with the 3-megapixel lens, and there is no flash assisting it and there is no front camera available in the phone. The internal memory included in the A89 is 4GB, of which the end user gets 2.07GB to use, and the storage can be expanded to 32GB using a MicroSD card. The connectivity options included are 3G connectivity from any of the active SIM cards, Wi-Fi to 802.11 b/g standards, GPS, MicroUSB and Bluetooth 2.1 technology. There’s FM radio receiver so this should be a good option for the Indian users to enjoy the music from radio stations.
The 1450 mAh battery does seem a bit low on capacity but still can provide a good talk time on the 3G network, but wouldn’t be able to do so on heavy multitasking. For the given above features, the price of Rs. 6,190 seems very much appropriate as there are Android smartphones from other brands with lower specs than this but priced the same, and the perfect comparison here could be with the Samsung Galaxy Y which is priced at around Rs. 7000 but has got lower specs than the A89 Ninja.
