Samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005 Android 4.4.2 KitKat Official Update Rolling Out – Details, How to Update

Samsung has started the official rollout of the Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS version, starting from the Poland region where, Sammyhub reports that it is the SM-N9005 model getting the updates first, and this comes in no time after some of the Android 4.4 screenshots on the Note 3 were leaked. In Poland, this is the Snapdragon quad-core version which is receiving the update and although there is no confirmation, it is said that soon the update would be available through the OTA option.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Android KitKat Update

The build number of the Android Kitkat for the Galaxy Note 3 is N9005XXUENA6, and the firmware looks similar to that of the one leaked earlier, which Samsung deemed it stable enough to send it as an official update. The details of the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 are as follows:

  • Model: SM-N9005
  • Country: Poland
  • Version: Android 4.4.2
  • Changelist: 340325
  • Build date: Thu, 09 Jan 2014 14:20:24 +0000
  • Product Code: XEO
  • PDA: N9005XXUENA6
  • CSC: N9005OXXENA5
  • MODEM: N9005XXUENA2

The update should be rolled out to the other regions as well in the coming days or weeks. For now, this is not an Over-the-air update thus you should not be hitting the software update page on your device but should connect the Note 3 to the computer and then check for the update through the Samsung Kies software.

The update would be more than 1GB in size, thus make sure the things are pretty well set up, and you take a backup of all the data before you proceed with the update if it is already available. This would make Samsung Galaxy Note 3 the first device from their 2013 lineup to receive the Android kitkat update officially, and it comes with quite some changes, although there is no actual change log available right now. Some of the noticeable changes include the status bar icon color changing from green to white, shortcut for camera from the lock screen, full screen music album art on the lockscreen and a lot more.

We will update you whenever we see the update rolling out for the other regions, and with the tips on how you can update your Galaxy Note 3 to the Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS version.
