Swipe has launched another tablet device for the Indian customers, with the name Velocity Tab having an 8-inch touchscreen. The tablet comes with quite a few good specs, and a price tag of Rs. 11500 in the Indian market. The California based company Swipe has made a tablet available for the users who wanted to have a taste of the Android Jelly Bean operating system, by spending a small budget.
The Velocity Tab has got a 1.6GHz dual-core ARM Cortex A9 processor which is supported by 1GB of RAM and that is quite enough for some multitasking, and there’s an internal memory of 8GB in the tablet, which could be expanded by adding external memory using a MicroSD card, to a maximum of 32GB. The 8-inch touchscreen is almost similar to the iPad Mini screen size, which is 0.3 inch smaller but the screen resolution in both is the same at 1028 x 768 pixels.
There are two cameras, but nothing big to speak about them because there would be no real advantage of capturing pics with the 2 megapixel rear camera, or the 1.3 megapixel front one. The connectivity within the tablet is limited to Wi-Fi, but if you have a 3G dongle to connect to the Internet, you can use the same and connect to the Internet with it.
The connectivity also includes USB and an HDMI port that supports full HD 1080p video playback on external devices. One of the advantages of the tablet would be the battery life, with the capacity being 4500 mAh, and the company claims it could give a good backup of about 10 hours.
Swipe has been launching the Android Tablets in the Indian markets in the recent times, and we had seen three tablet devices released together by them in June, and now the Velocity Tab has something different in it, with a 8-inch screen and the latest OS. One of the interesting things about the Velocity Tab is that it looks quite similar to the Apple iPad Mini, especially with the front side, because of the screen size.
There is no confirmation about the exact date of availability of the tab, but the pricing has been announced. We might be seeing the device before the end of 2012, and this although might not go into the league of the best tablet devices, but could be a good option for someone who wanted to have something in budget, with the latest Jelly Bean OS in it.
