Well, not long ago, the Xiaomi Mi Fold which is the upcoming foldable smartphone from the company was showcased by the companies President Bin Lin, revealing that the handset will be coming with a double fold design. The device was also speculated to be priced at US$ 999 which will be much lesser than other foldable devices that are going to come into the market. Now there is a new 10-second video of the Mi Fold smartphone has been posted on the companies Weibo page that reveals a few details about the foldable device.
In the video, we can see that the device is foldable from both the sides like we have seen in the earlier leaked image which showcased that it could bend at the top and bottom. The handset becomes a smartphone when the wings are folded and will be a tablet when unfolded. This is a very interesting design that Xiaomi is working on and is said to be aggressively priced when compared to other foldable handsets.
None of these foldable smartphones will be reaching the US as of now and Samsung Galaxy Fold is the only one which will be going for sale in the country soon. Although the Moto Razr (2019) model which will come with a clamshell design will be the competitor of the foldable device from the South Korean Giant, it might take some more time for the device to actually come into the market. Furthermore, it will be coming with a price tag of around $1500 which will be powered by a Snapdragon 710 SoC.
The Huawei Mate X is also going to come soon with a price tag of $2,600 and there are many other smartphone makers who are getting ready to launch their foldable devices by the end of 2019. These devices will be running on the Android platform and with Android Q round the corner, we need to see what improvements we will be seeing in the mobile industry.
