The trend of Mini smartphones has been going on quite well since Samsung had come up with the mini version of S3, and although these didn’t make any impact in the market, they are at least inspiring the other brands to come up with a smaller version of the actual flagship device. Gionee is the latest to follow the trend, as they put up the Elife E6 Mini version for sale on their online store. The 4.5-inch device won’t be looking a mini phone by any angle, because the Elife E6 is a 5-inch one, making not much of a difference.
There is some good internal powering provided in the device, and you would get to see the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS running in the E6 Mini, which is powered by the quad-core processor clocking at 1.5 GHz. There is 1GB RAM and the internal storage provided is 16GB, and just like the Elife E6, this doesn’t support the MicroSD cards for any storage expansion. Supporting the 3G connectivity only on the China Mobile phone card, the Elife E6 Mini comes with a single SIM connectivity. The device comes with the Amigo interface which powered even the Elife E6 smartphone launched a few days back.
The display looks quite good by the specs, as there is a 720p HD display, which has the pixel density of 326 PPI, and the cameras too didn’t get a huge compromise – 8-megapixel camera on the rear side with the flash support, and a 2-megapixel front camera. The rear camera comes with several capturing modes, and it supports the 1080p Full HD video recording at 30 frames / sec. One of the best things about this device is the 3000 mAh battery, which is said to provide 17 hours of talk time, and up to 7 hours of 3G web browsing.
The phone looks neat with the 8.9mm thickness, but the weight of 150gm doesn’t impress much. The connectivity options included are Bluetooth, Wi-Fi with Wi-Fi Direct, MicroUSB 2.0 and GPS. The phone is available for the price of 1699 Chinese Yuan (around Rs. 17,000 or USD 280) and its being sold only in China for now.
