Google has rolled out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow recently, and the owners of some Nexus and Android One devices have already received the sweet Marshmallow update. The new update comes with a bundle of improvements and are nevertheless very important upgrades when compared to the earlier Android versions.
Among the new features, the Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes with a most-anticipated Granular App Permissions feature. Currently, Android Apps require you to grant access to some phone apps and features before you install them, ranging from microphone, camera, location, make calls, send messages, etc. But with Android M’s new Granular App Permissions functionality users can now grant or deny apps access as per their requirement instead of having to settle for bulk allowing all permissions at installation.
To set app permissions in Marshmallow, go to Settings and click on the Apps section further click on the gear icon and click on the App Permissions.
Available app permissions include access to body sensors, calendar, camera, contacts, location, microphone, phone, SMS, storage, car information, read/write instant messages and more. Each permission will list the apps that have been granted access to access the function. From here you have the ability to grant or deny access on a ‘granular’ level (by app and by permission).
