Archos Diamond 2 Plus & Diamond 2 Note with Android 6.0 Marshmallow Announced

The French-based smartphone manufacturer, Archos has recently unveiled an impressive mid-range smartphone called as Archos 50d Oxygen priced at $187 and will be showcased at upcoming MWC 2016 event to be held in Barcelona. Today, the company has launched two new smartphones in its Diamond-series called as Archos Diamond 2 Plus and Archos Diamond 2 Note ahead of the MWC 2016 event that is just a few days away. Both the devices feature powerful specifications and with an increase in competition the company has also followed an aggressive pricing strategy.

The Archos Diamond 2 Plus features a 5.5-inch (1080×1920 pixels) full-HD IPS display offering 401ppi as pixel density with 2.5D arc curved glass and Dragontrail Glass laid on top of it for protection. Under the hood, it comes powered by MediaTek Helio P10 64-bit octa-core processor clocked at 2.0 GHz paired with Mali-T860 MP2 GPU and 4GB of RAM for the lag-free and smooth performance of the device. The smartphone has hybrid sim slot that lets you use microSD card instead of the second sim.

On the photographic section, the smartphone sports a 20MP rear camera with Sony sensor, laser autofocus, f/2.2 aperture and dual-tone LED flash. On the front, it has an 8MP shooter with a wide-angle lens and LED flash to capture stunning selfie images in any lighting conditions. The device supports dual sim dual standby and runs on latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. It has 64GB of built-in storage and also includes a microSD card support for further expansion of memory upto 128GB.

The Archos Diamond 2 Plus also includes a fingerprint sensor placed on the back of the unit for enhanced security. Connectivity options on the handset include 4G-LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS and a microUSB Type-C port. The smartphone powers a 3000mAh battery and also supports Fast Charging technology. The dimensions of the device measure 148.3 x 73.8 x 8.3 mm weighs around 130 grams and comes in Black and White color options.

The Archos Diamond 2 Note is the brand’s flagship smartphone and comes with powerful specifications. The smartphone flaunts a 6-inch (1440-2560 pixels) Quad-HD 2K 2.5D arc curved glass display with 489ppi as pixel density and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 laid on top of it for protection. The smartphone comes equipped with 64-bit MediaTek Helio X10 octa-core processor clocked at 2GHz clubbed with PowerVR G6200 GPU. It has 3GB of RAM, 32GB of onboard storage and also includes a microSD card slot for further expansion upto 128GB.

On the camera cordon, the smartphone sports a 16MP Sony primary camera with PDAF for faster focus, f/2.0 aperture, dual LED flash and is also capable of 4K video recording. On the front, it has an 8MP snapper with f/2.2 aperture and 84-degree wide-angle lens for video chats and crisp selfie images. The device supports dual sim dual standby and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. It has standard connectivity options like 4G-LTE, Infrared LED for remote support, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi, GPS/A-GPS and microUSB port.

The smartphone sports premium looks with an all-metal unibody design and also features Smart PA sound amplification support for enhanced audio quality. The handset comes backed by a 3610mAh battery that is rated to easily last for an entire day on mixed usage and also supports Quick Charge technology. The dimensions of the device measure 158.35 x 82.7 x 8.7 mm weighs around 150 grams and will come in Silver color variant.

The Archos Diamond 2 Plus and Diamond 2 Note are priced at £199 (approx $229/Rs. 15,710) and £249 (approx $279/Rs. 19,150) respectively and will be available for purchase in May.
