The French electronics brand, Archos has launched two new smartphone lineup, the Power series and the Cobalt series ahead of the CES 2016 event. The Power lineup consists of Archos 40 Power and 50 Power smartphones with more focus on long-lasting batteries. The Cobalt range launches with two new smartphones called as Archos 50 Cobalt and 55 Cobalt Plus and will be known as fully colored smartphones.
Commenting on the announcement, Loic Poirier, CEO of ARCHOS said, “In order to offer an ever more complete range, ARCHOS is launching two new lines of smartphones to address consumer demands for longer lasting battery life and colors in affordable products”
Lets talk about the smartphones in detail-
Archos 40 Power
Archos 40 Power is an entry-level device and comes with all the basic specifications. The smartphone flaunts 4-inch (480×800 pixels) WVGA display and comes powered by Spreadtrum SC7731C quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz. The smartphone comes with 512MB of RAM, 8GB of onboard storage and also includes a microSD card slot for further expansion.
The device supports dual sim dual standby and runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box. It sports a 5MP rear camera with LED flash and a 2MP front shooter for selfie clicks. Connectivity options on the device include 2G/3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS and microUSB 2.0 port. It packs a 1900mAh battery and will be available for purchase later this year priced at mere €49.99 (approx $54).
Archos 50 Power
Archos 50 Power comes with impressive mid-range specifications and will be available starting May priced at €129.99 (roughly $141). The smartphone comes with a 5-inch (1280×720 pixels) HD IPS display offering a pixel density of 294ppi. Under the hood, is the MediaTek MT6735 quad-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM, 16GB storage and microSD card slot for further expansion.
On the camera section, the device sports a 13MP primary camera with LED flash and a 5MP front-facing snapper to capture perfect selfie images. Connectivity options on the dual sim capable handset include 4G-LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/A-GPS and a microUSB 2.0 port with OTG support. As the name indicates, the 50 Power juices a huge 4000mAh battery and runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box.
Archos 50 Cobalt
Archos 50 Cobalt is the most affordable smartphone in the new Cobalt lineup, and it comes with low-end specifications. The 50 Cobalt features a 5-inch (720×1280 pixels HD) IPS display and is equipped with MediaTek MT6535 quad-core processor. It comes with 1GB of RAM, 8GB of built-in storage and is further expandable using a provided microSD card slot.
The smartphone supports dual sim dual standby and includes standard connectivity options like 4G-LTE, Bluetooth, GPS/A-GPS, Wi-Fi and microUSB port. The device sports an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 2MP selfie shooter. The smartphone comes backed by a 2000mAh battery that can last for an entire day on single charge.
Archos 55 Cobalt Plus
Archos 55 Cobalt Plus is the largest among all the devices as it features large 5.5-inch (1280×720 pixels) HD IPS display with 267ppi as pixel density. Under the hood, it packs same MediaTek MT6535 quad-core SoC coupled with 2GB of RAM. It supports dual sim dual standby and powers a 2700mAh battery that can easily last for an entire day on mixed usage.
On the photographic section, the device sports a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 2MP front snapper for video chats and selfie lovers. Connectivity options on the device include 4G-LTE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS and a microUSB 2.0 port. It comes with 16GB of onboard storage and also includes a microSD card slot for further expansion.
Both the Archos Cobalt range of devices will be available in Cobalt Blue and Dark Grey color variants. The Archos 50 Cobalt and 55 Cobalt Plus will be available in April, and will be priced at €99(approx $107) and €149(approx $161) respectively.
