While Google TV is heading very slow, it now seems like Dell Inc. has taken this seriously and has unveiled an internal “Dell Project Ophelia” project. The main aim of this project is to sell a USB based Android Stick will make your Screen Smarter without needing you to invest much that is for $100, the screens include your Laptop and TV. Most of them would love to make our TVs smarter, while some choose to buy the Smart TVs, while some choose to buy add-on accessories like Google TV or Internet Enabled Set Top Boxes which can convert your existing HDMI /USB based TVs into Smart TVs. Apart from the two options which we mentioned above, here comes another option which is the Android based USB Sticks.
With Wi Fi, Bluetooth, Jellybean 4. Something, this Android based Stick will be soon launched by Dell Inc. It has been quite a period of time of these Android USB sticks being launched, but unfortunately, we only have a handful of recognized companies adopting this and selling this. Still a large chunk of the Android based USB sticks are being sold by the Chinese Vendors which compromise on the User Experience / User Interface despite boasting state of the art hardware specs.
We can only hope that time changes and we will at least have an option to convert your existing HDTV / USB enabled TV into a smart one. Dell will demonstrate Ophelia on 19-inch and 55-inch screens at next week’s Citrix Synergy conference in Los Angeles. Dell is also pitching Ophelia to the enterprises as a pocket sized client which IT Administrators can manage to secure the device. For example, it could be wiped clean if it is lost. The feature set which is called as “cloud client manager”, will allow system administrators to see where users are and what they are doing with Ophelia.
