ST Ericsson what we hear in the news that they are back of coming out with the 1.85 Ghz clocked processor which consumes lower power and provides high valued output. If this turns out to be true then it would be a good alternative for the phones coming out in 2013.
ST-Ericsson NovaThor L9540 SoC would be coming out with two ARM Cortex A9 processors which are clocked at 1.85 Ghz along with the Imagination SGX544 GPU. Its been said that if the ST’s chips needs just 0.6 volts to operate 1 Ghz as that of competitors 0.9 volts for 1 Ghz and this account for more than 25 % of the power saving. This is for 1 Ghz and even lower voltage is consumed for lower speeds. The NovoThor L9540 would be out with high performance for smartphones and tablets.
While as we go through the ST- Ericsson design it looks speed enough to make up a technology coming out in 2013 but its sales would be limited as it’s just compatible with the CDMA smartphones only. Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile operate on CDMA and hence they think that they can make money out of this technology. Let’s wait and watch.
