Waiting for an all new firmware for your Samsung Galaxy S2 GT I9100 smartphone? Then it has just arrived, in the due course of the article we will be checking out on how one can apply with this update. Please note that this is official firmware which is released for Nordic countries and can be applied for all the devices irrespective of country the device belongs to. The only condition is that phone should be unlocked. Unlocked as in, it should work with all the networks and not on just one network. This firmware update ropes in the latest ICS 4.0.3 XWLPD version, very soon there will be an official ICS 4.0.4 firmware for Galaxy S2 GT I9100. Rooting Information: Applying this update doesn’t mean that you need to root the device before & also the device will not get rooted after applying this update. There are many things which are addressed in this XWLPD 4.0.3 firmware which includes,
- Bug fixes in Battery Life,
- Google PLAY Store force close issues are partially fixed,
- Brightness issue is completely fixed,
- Some HD Games were getting force closed, it has been fixed for some games,
- Fixes have been induced in Camera which fixes image clarity in low light,
Essential Pre Requisites:
- Backup the data present in your Galaxy S2 with the help of below mentioned steps so as to ensure that just in case if the data is lost or corrupted, the same can be easily restored. Don’t use KIES to back up the data as it doesn’t support the beta firmware.
SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”
- Disable all the antivirus suites in your computer and uninstall the same in your device as these tools generally tend to interrupt the process of firmware update. You should have the admin rights in your PC along with the active USB ports with full read / write access.
- Minimum charge left in the device should be at least 70% so as to ensure that device doesn’t get turned Off in the middle of firmware update.
- Enable the USB Debugging in your Galaxy S2 GT I9100 from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”. The USB Debugging option should be ticked as shown in the below screen capture.
