So, for all those who have rooted their phones and are on the custom ROM firmwares can now head over to this procedure to update with the latest Jellybean firmware which is dubbed as 4.2.2 firmware. The best part is that it comes with all the features which Jellybean originally comes with as it’s only available with select devices officially, the Nexus ones. Unfortunately, there are no updates by Samsung on by when there will be an official version of Jellybean 4.2 but as in when it comes we will keep you posted on this front.

Quick Pre Requisites:
All the data in your Samsung Galaxy S2 GT I9100G smartphone should be backed up manually and not with KIES or ROM Manager as it may brick the device completely. With the help of below mentioned steps, you can easily create a backup.
SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,

Procedure to Update Galaxy S2 GT I9100G with Jellybean 4.2.2 Firmware:
- Download the latest Jellybean 4.2.2 firmware package and Google Apps Package from here to your computer. Once downloaded, connect your phone to computer and then place the two packages in your phone.
- Disconnect the device and then enter the device in the Recovery mode either with the help of ROM Manager app or with the help of manually. Recovery mode in Galaxy S2 GT I9100G can be entered by pressing Volume Up Key, Center button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button after which you will get to see a green robot indicating that the device has entered in the recovery mode.
- In recovery mode, select “install zip from sd card” and choose the Jellybean 4.2.2 firmware and then followed by the Google Apps Package. Once selected, it will take around 4 -5 minutes for applying the same. As soon as the update is applied successfully, you will see the message as “install from zip card completed”.
- So, once it’s completed you need to then select the option of “Reboot system now” for rebooting the device in the normal mode.
Note: Just in a rare case if your Samsung device refuses to turn ON or say if it gets stuck on the Samsung Logo then you need to long press the power button to turn off the same or re insert the battery to start the process from beginning.
