LG Electronics finally debuts its own mobile application processor (AP) which comes with the Octa core architecture along with the LTE-A Cat.6 network capability for high performance and low energy consumption. Just like Samsung’s processor is called as “Exynos”, this processor from LG Electronics is called as “NUCLUN” which will be available in the upcoming smartphone which is being developed dubbed as “G3 Screen” for the Korean market. Once the smartphone is launched officially in the market, we will be able to get more insights on how better this one is from the likes of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon, Mediatek and Samsung’s Exynos processor lineup. We have shown the image on how this processor looks like and in coming days to come we can see more of LG smartphones loaded with this processor which will further lower the price tag of the devices and will increase the margin of LG Electronics. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon and Exynos will definitely be having sleepless nights when this new processor from LG makes successful debut as smartphones which are supposed to come with Snapdragon processor will be replaced with the NUCLUN.
What is NUCLUN?
NUCLUN (pronounced as NOO-klun) was designed using ARM big.LITTLE technology for efficient multi-tasking capabilities. This processor also employs four 1.5GHz cores (ARM Cortex-A15) for high performance and four 1.2GHz cores (ARM Cortex-A7) for less intensive processing. The best part about these processors is that the number of performing cores can be adjusted as per the requirements of the task for maximum processing power or maximum energy savings. This processor is also capable of providing support of next gen 4G technology of LTE-A Cat.6, for maximum download speeds of up to 225Mbps while retaining backward compatibility with current LTE networks.
