BLU has announced their latest Android device, the BLU Studio with 5.5-inch touchscreen and a very affordable pricing, set at $179. The pricing does suggest that you won’t be getting a totally high-end device with it, and thus you would see a capacitive touchscreen having a display with screen resolution 480 x 854 pixels, with a pixel density of 178ppi. The design of the device looks quite good with the various color options, looking just like the Nokia Lumia series of Windows Phone devices.
Under the large screen, there is a quad-core processor embedded with the Cortex A7 CPU which clocks at 1.2 GHz speed and a PowerVR SGX544 GPU on the Mediatek MTM6589 platform. To support the multitasking, there’s 1GB of RAM included in the Studio 5.5 and you would get 4GB of internal storage, and this can be expanded by using a MicroSD card. The cameras included are – 5-megapixel camera with the LED flash on the rear side and a VGA camera on the front. The rear camera is capable of recording videos at 1080p Full HD quality.
It is a Dual-SIM device with two GSM SIM cards supported, and the Blu Studio 5.5 has got a 2250 mAh of battery which is good enough to provide 300 hours of standby time and 4 hours talk time on 3G network. It runs on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS and the company hasn’t given any details about the future releases. As said above, the device is available for $179 and one can soon get it on Amazon and Best Buy. The various color options available with the Studio 5.5 are yellow, blue, red, black and white.
