A press render of the alleged Huawei Mate 8 has been spotted online. The design of the smartphone is similar to the Mate 7. It has the same metal body as the previous generation with subtle changes in the positioning of the various parts on the device. The dual LED flash lies below the camera sensor, i.e. in between the camera and the fingerprint sensor instead of the top left region. The placement of the sensors on top of the display has also changed.
The Huawei Mate 8 is said to sport a 6-inch 1080p or QHD display along with 3 and 4GB of RAM. The 3GB variant will quite probably ship with 32GB of internal storage, and the 4GB model will come with 64GB of in-built storage. The 20.7-megapixel shooter is said to be located on the back of this phablet, and an 8-megapixel snapper will be available up front.
The Huawei Mate 8 is expected to be powered by the company’s own Kirin 950 64-bit chip. The chip will feature four Cortex A53 cores and four Cortex A72 cores clocked at 2.4GHz. The other specs include LPDDR4 RAM, ARM MAli T880 GPU, Dual ISP with support for up to 42MP and dual SIM support with Cat. 10 LTE connectivity.
Earlier: Huawei Mate 8 to feature a QHD screen, 20MP camera
We have seen quite a few launches from Huawei this year and the new device to be added to the list is the successor of Huawei Ascend Mate 7 which was launched last year. The upcoming phablet is named as ‘Huawei Mate 8’ since the company drops the ‘Ascend’ from naming the device. Even the recently launched P8 and P8 Max don’t include Ascend, unlike Ascend P7.
There are few images spotted online which are believed to be of Huawei Mate 8. The phablet comes with a 6-inch QHD resolution (1440×2560) display while the company lashed out at Xiaomi for using 2K displays for ‘Mi Note Pro’. Maybe the company finally realized the need for high-resolution displays.
Specifications of the phablet include a 64-bit HiSilicon Kirin 930 octa-core SoC with 3GB of RAM. It is rumoured to sport a 20.7MP Sony IMX220 sensor and also to include a fingerprint scanner just like its predecessor Mate 7.
Huawei Ascend Mate 7 has a 6-inch FullHD (1080p) resolution display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection and is powered by HiSilicon Kirin 925 octa-core chipset with Mali T628 GPU. There are two versions of Ascend Mate 7 released; the 16GB version has a 2GB of RAM, where the 32GB version has a 3GB of RAM. It also has a microSD card slot with up to 32GB support and has a 4100mAh capacity of battery.
The Mate 8 will support 4G LTE Cat.6 and comes in all metal design. It has a high screen to body ratio, which we seen on Mate 7. According to the leaked roadmap of Huawei, this phablet will be unveiled in the month of June. We will update this if there is any other information about the upcoming tablet.
