Motorola Droid Maxx 2 with 5.5″ Full-HD Display & 21MP Camera Announced for $384

Alongside the high-end Droid Turbo 2 the Motorola also announced an upper mid-range smartphone dubbed as Droid Maxx 2. The Droid Maxx 2 comes with similar specifications and design like the Moto X Play that launched in India a couple of months ago, but is announced in the U.S with a different name.

The Droid Maxx 2 is the successor to the Droid Maxx smartphone that launched last year. The device features a 5.5-inch (1080×1920 pixels) Full-HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass protection on top of it. It comes powered by 64-bit Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz accompanied with Adreno 405 GPU. The smartphone comes with 2GB RAM, 16GB onboard storage that can be further expanded via a microSD card slot.

Like the Droid Turbo 2, the Droid Maxx 2 also sports a 21MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, PDAF and dual LED flash and a 5MP front-facing camera for video calling and perfect selfie clicks. The single sim capable Droid Maxx 2 comes with standard connectivity options like 4G-LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and a microUSB port.

The handset comes backed by a 3630mAh battery that can last for 48 hours on a single charge and also supports Quick Charging that can give 8 hours of talk time with just 15 minutes of charging. It is worth mentioning that unlike the Moto X Play, Droid Maxx 2 is not a waterproof phone, but it comes with a water repellent coating. The smartphone runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with guaranteed upgrade to Android 6.0 and will be available in colors- Black with Deep Sea Blue Back and White with Winter White Back.

Like Droid Turbo 2, the Motorola Droid Maxx 2 will also be available exclusively via Verizon in the United States starting on October 29. The smartphone is priced at $384 without a contract and can also be purchased on contract at $16 per month (upto 24 months).
