This all new initiative was taken by security researcher Dan Rosenberg who is indeed the developer of this rooting procedure. Now, the users of Droid 4 can literally be happy as there is no stopping between your phone and custom rom firmwares which we will be checking out in the due course of this article. We personally think that the developer should get more donations for developing this excellent tool which will help Droid 4 users to root their phones considering the fact that there will be many custom ROMs one can install after rooting.

Before proceeding, you need to back up all the data present in your phone memory as to ensure that just in case if any data gets lost or corrupted, the same can be restored easily with the help of simple instructions.

Text messages – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Phone Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Pictures, Music, Videos, Files etc.– Copy to internal / External SD Card,
Internet & MMS Settings – Backup all the settings from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

Also, most importantly the battery left in the phone should be a minimum of 60% so as to ensure that the phone doesn’t get turned Off in the middle of rooting process.

Procedure to Root Motorola Droid 4 with an Easy Tutorial:

  • First up, you need to download Droid 4 Rooting Package from here to your computer. Once you download it, you will then need to extract the same in your computer. Check after extracting the files as even if single file is missing from the below shown screen capture, you need to extract the files again.

  • From extracted folder, open “adb” executable file to express install the adb files in your computer. Up next you need to enable the USB Debugging in your phone. Enable the same from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging. Ensure that the USB Debugging option is ticked as shown in the below screen capture.

  • After this, connect you phone to the computer and open the executable file named as “run” from extracted files after which a series of processes will be done in your pc as well as in your phone which will root the device.

  • Once the device is rooted successfully, Droid 4 will be rebooted. Ensure that you have restored all the data which you have backed up for your convenience.
