How to Root Samsung Galaxy 3 GT I5801 on Froyo 2.2 Firmware

Procedure to Root Galaxy 3:

  • First up you will have to download the Galaxy 3 Rooting Package from here to your computer and then you will have to unzip the same . Please note that in the process of the firmware update you will be prompted to enter the password. Enter the password as “androidadvices.com” without the inverted comas.

Extract Files

  • Upon extraction of the file, you will get three files in all which are the tar Rooting file, OPS File along with the Odin flash tool with which we will be seeing in the sue course of the article on how to use these to root the phone.

  • Now, after this you need to open the Odin flash tool in your computer and need to turn Off the phone so that you can then enter the phone in the download mode. To enter the download mode you will have to hold the Volume Down button + the Home key button (the middle button), while holding these both buttons, you need to switch ON your device by Pressing he Power ON button.

  • Now, upon entering the download mode you will see a blue colored screen as shown below which will signify that you are in download mode you will now have to connect the phone to the computer using the USB cable. As soon as you connect the phone to the computer, you will see that the ID : COM block will turn yellow which means that all the drivers which were required to install were successfully installed in the computer and you are now ready to proceed with the selection of files as shown below.
  • Now, in the Odin you will have to select the files in the corresponding options as shown in the below listing. Please note that you need to match the files and other settings as shown in the below screenshot, if you still proceed without following the same, we shall not be held responsible for bricking your phone.

File Selections

  • So, once you are done with the file selections, double check with the same and click on the “Start” tab after which the process of rooting begins. Ensure that you are not interrupting the process of rooting, just in case if it’s interrupted then you will have to again follow the procedure from the start.
  • As soon as the rooting process is done with, you will see that the phone will be restarted automatically and now you will see that the device will be restarted automatically. Please note that if the phone is unable to proceed with the rooting process than and even after 7 – 10 minutes then you will need to check with the admin privileges and also need to check the USB ports whether the read / write access is there or not.
  • So, once the device restarts, you will have to get into the “Applications: and then you will have to look out for an app of “Super User”. If this app is there then that means that the phone has been rooted successfully, please note that if this application is not there then you need to follow the rooting process again from the start.
  • Once you are done with the rooting process, you will now have to get into the recovery mode so that you can clear all the cache which is there in your phone. You can enter recovery mode by pressing the Volume Down button + the Home key button (the middle button), while holding these both buttons, you need to switch ON your device by Pressing he Power ON button.   • Once you get into the recovery mode you will now have to select options like Wipe data/factory reset and also you need to select Wipe Cache partition and then reboot your device by selecting reboot system now option by choosing Going back from the recovery mode screen.
