How to Update Samsung Galaxy Y S5360 with Official DDLA1 Gingerbread 2.3.6 Firmware
Samsung Galaxy Y S5360 users can now breathe easy as an Official update for Indian users has just pushed via KIES tool which is Samsung’s very own tool for managing your phone. Since many of the users are on the beta versions of the firmware, KIES won’t be recognizing the firmware. So the only way you can apply the firmware is by either reverting back to the original stock firmware or you can apply this update manually which we will be checking out in the due course of the article. This all new update is dubbed as Gingerbread 2.3.6 DDLA1 and is the official KIES release for all the users of INDIA but all the users from rest of the countries too can apply this update.
Disclaimer: Please note that this process of firmware update is not recommended for the basic users and is only recommended for the advanced users. Also, we should not be held responsible for any damage happened to your device in any manner after applying this update.
Rooting Information:
- Please note that if you apply this firmware then it doesn’t mean that the phone is rooted.
- If you have rooted your device then after applying this firmware, the rooting access will be revoked.
Note: For all the users who are asking for all the files including the files like Boot loader, Phone and CSC, these files aren’t available with this current firmware version as it’s a leaked version of the official update. As in when we get all the files, we will surely update the same. We are aware of issues faced by some users in the recent updates and we really apologize the same.
Essential Pre Requisites:
- Caution (Not for INDIA users): Don’t backup the data using the KIES as after the update KIES won’t be detecting your phone as its not Official firmware for your region.
Text messages – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Phone Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log - Call Log and Restore
Pictures, Music, Videos, Files etc.– Copy to internal / External SD Card,
Internet & MMS Settings – Backup all the settings from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”Notes – Manually you need to note down or need to transfer to Evernote.
- Ensure that the battery level left in your device is minimum of 60% so as to ensure that the phone doesn’t get turned off in the middle of firmware update. Also, you need to disable all the Antivirus / firewall suites in your computer as these tools tend to interrupt the process of firmware update. Also, close the KIES completely in your computer.

Hey Pradeep i have a software update of Samsung Galaxy Y. When the download was complete it rebooted and when the installation was going through it showed an error….!!! Well i cant update my software… Plzzz help….!!!

The last fw u uploaded was ver. KJ3 that i successfully installed
on my Galaxy and still using the same but facing SD card issue.
Recently u uploaded fw ver. XXKK6, XXKL3 and this DDLA1 which is one package fw as u said.
i tried all the above fw but none of these work and error message was ‘write operation failed’.
I appreciate ur effort for Indian fw but please upload all the files for fw DDLA1 bcoz Galaxy Y s5630 does not support one package update using Odin.

samsung galaxy y s5360 do not support for single file firmware….there is no odin available to update one packaged firmware for galaxy y…i tried your way adding file to pda but unfortunately it failed updating…
i respect that you worked for indian firmware but pls provide all files like pit,bootloader,modem.etc because there is till now no possibility of updating with one packaged file with this odin.and i think you should try it by yourself updating galaxy y because you are wasting your own time for creating thread,uploading firmware file and in the end it do not work…i am saying you this because recently you have posted 3 different firmware for this phone(all were one packaged) and all three are not working

Why do we need to use ODIN & other things, Just update your phone via GPRS.
Go to About phone — Sofware update — create samsung account with your gmail or any other service, simply register.
Search for updates. Updates are availabe download it & install.
Pls check for batttery or keep charger handy.
I had upgrad from DDKJ1 to DDKL2 & today from DDKL2 to DDLA1 its just 11MB download.

hello. i’ve seen that you really really help a lot of people on replying on their problems. can you help me with what’s bothering me because i’ve read from a other site that if you are upgrading your firmware in kies and suddenly it was terminated because internet connection was terminated like 4 times that it happened, does it brick your phone? but then again, i proceeded to upgrade my firmware and it was successful. this is my new firmware now.

I recently updated the firmware of my Galaxy Y using Kies and now the firmware version is Android 2.3.6, Build GINGERBREAD.DDLA3, after the update I am facing two problems:
1. Android market does not work. I keep getting ‘connection timed out’ even though there is nothing wrong with my WiFi connection. Internet use through all other apps like browsers, YouTube, etc is perfect.
2. If I power off and on my phone, I get an SMS from somewhere which says, ‘Dear GT-S5360 user. Thank you for your interest in being part of the Samsung Family’. When I get this SMS I am charged and my talk time balance goes down

I recently upgraded my Samsung Galaxy Y to Android 2.3.6, GINGERBREAD.DDLA3. After upgrade I am having the following problems:
1. Android market does not work. Gives connection time out error.
2. When I power on my phone I get an SMS from LM-ALERTS: ‘Dear GT-S5360 user, Thank you for your inerest in being a part of the Samsung Family.’ The funny thing about this is that I also get charged for this SMS!!
