Make sure that only the device you are upgrading is connected. Disconnect all other devices :

  1. Removing the cable from the mobile phone while upgrading may cause an error. Please make sure the connection is maintained until the upgrade is complete.
  2. Executing PC software while upgrading can overload the computer.
  3. Do no run the menu by pressing any buttons while upgrading.
  4. Do no connect other mobile devices (MP3 players, cameras, external hard drives) to the PC while upgrading.

Firmware Upgrade Information Stored

Next the Kies application would start ‘Downloading Binary files from the server’. Make sure that you do not remove the device from the PC while the download process is going on. This downloading of files would take a good amount of time because the update is quite heavy and you will have to make sure you are on a high speed internet connection.

be careful if you upgrade to froyo 2.2 (samsung galaxY). Bluetooth connectivity with my car phone was affected (worked perfectly ok before firmware upgrade), you may have problems with the phone directory/contacts not working. Firmware upgrade not much difference from factory settings but caused a lot of problem with car phone. went back to factory setting, hopefully when developers sort out bluetooth connectivity will consider upgrading firmware again

    Hi,

I’ve tried to update my i9000 with kies but unfortunately an error occurred, i tried the emergency upgrade and an error occurred again. I switch it off overnight and now it doesn’t want to switch on in any mode. The phone is completely dead, even when plugging in the charger, nothing showing on the screen that the battery is charging. Now when i try to re upgrade it by kies it tells me that i don’t have a phone connected since its not on. Not even in recovery mode does it switch on!

    PLEASE HELP!!

    Thanks

    Dear Experts,

I m new to Galaxy S GT-i9000. I’m working india, but as of my project i came to Saudi Arabia and i bought a Samsung GT-i9000 from here. So when i started with the kies_1.5.3.10093_80 it is recommended to Update into new version. So that i downloaded Kies_2.0.0.11014_49_2. In settings i checked about my phone information.
    It is showing that the
    Firmware version is 2.2.
    Base band Version is i9000JXJPD.
    Kernel Version is 2.6.32.9 and root@SE-S606 #89
    Build Number is FROYO.JPJPF

I hope my android is updated to 2.2 Version. Even though i cannot access to Androd Market with my gmail account. I tried downloads from Android not in one bit, i tried many times. But still it is showing i need to sign in with another account. Also the phone is not showing any android market Icon to download softwares.

I want to know how i can access android market from my phone or PC…!…?
And my phone is it updated to Froyo or not…!..?

Hello. I need help. I have Galaxy S. It came with 2.1. I live in Estonia. I tried to update it with KIES but it told me “No Response from server. Please check if your internet connection is activated and try again”. I have tried many things but nothing. I found another solution from web how to install from 2.1 to 2.2 (I9000XXJP2 / 2.6.32.9). After I had installing it I discovered many bugs like:
    1. Screen does not act like it should. Freezes all the time.
    2. Does not keep up to date/renew Call log after 30 logs.
    3. Auto focus does not focus. Macro works ok.
    4. Clock every day goes 2-3 minutes behind. VERY STRANGE!!!
    5. Plays MP3 very low quality.

    What to do?

Hey Amit, congrats on the extremely informative video presentation, and its finally good news you have brought yourself an ‘Galaxy 3′ (just for testing purpose).

Would you be able to help us with an similar approach for the firmware upgrade to Froyo 2.2 for Galaxy 3 as well ? (as you earlier mentioned the firmware is identical on both the Galaxy variants S/3, only their is hardware difference)

Many thanks Amit, you have been very helpful to me and to so many of my friends as well.

Hey, I actually dont have the HTC Wildfire device or else would have written a guide for the same too. Just purchased a Galaxy 3 device which is a low cost alternative for Galaxy S device. For the HTC Wildfire i will have to try to get the device from someone for a days time and then try out the upgrade process.
