This article is going to help you guys in Upgrading Firmware your Samsung Galaxy S i9000 device from the current Android 2.1 to the latest Android 2.2 Froyo version. To upgrade your Samsung i9000 Galaxy S device from the Android Eclair 2.1 to Android Froyo 2.2 version you will have to connect the device to the Windows based computer and run the Samsung Kies Application.
Click on the Firmware Upgrade button which is located at the bottom right side of the Kies application. Next you will be shown with a list of devices requiring Firmware Upgrade.
Click on the ‘Upgrade’ button to begin the process.
Make sure that only the device you are upgrading is connected. Disconnect all other devices :
- Removing the cable from the mobile phone while upgrading may cause an error. Please make sure the connection is maintained until the upgrade is complete.
- Executing PC software while upgrading can overload the computer.
- Do no run the menu by pressing any buttons while upgrading.
- Do no connect other mobile devices (MP3 players, cameras, external hard drives) to the PC while upgrading.
Next the Service Name and Service Version would be displayed. The option is important for saving the information stored for users who are under the two year contract. To be on safe side, just continue to Next by selecting the option of ‘Allow saving’.
Next the Kies application would start ‘Downloading Binary files from the server’. Make sure that you do not remove the device from the PC while the download process is going on. This downloading of files would take a good amount of time because the update is quite heavy and you will have to make sure you are on a high speed internet connection.
Once the process of downloading files is completed, the update will be started and it would be done within a few minutes. following this the installation would take another 15 minutes and all the files would be transferred to your device and installed.
