Acer Iconia B1 Android Tablet to cost $99 – Rumored Specs and Information

Acer lately has been in the news for the cheap Android tablet making, and recently the company was planning to release a slate priced very low, but they canceled it later on, expecting that it could diminish the sales of the Nexus 7 tablets. But now, the same manufacturer is planning to come up with a low cost Iconia B1 tablet, which is expected to cost a two-digit figure, i.e. $99.

The rumor became a bit confirmed when the tablet was sent for the FCC certification, and all the leaks came from there. Asus is the only brand that has come up with attempts to make tablet devices with decent specs but low cost, because brands like Samsung, Motorola and Sony which launched several large devices in the market, but the price was sky high, while on the other side, low-cost tablet devices from several other brands never were so productive. For the price tag of $99 from Acer, you are getting a tablet with a 7 inch screen having a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels, which was the same you saw in the Playbook from Blackberry.

Although there is a dual-core processor running at 1.2GHz speed, you would see a slow down of the system when multiple apps are running together, because of the 512MB RAM. One would have been happy even with this, if the OS version was one earlier to the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, but with the JB version you expect to use the tablet with multitasking and its intuitive features, still for the pricing, its a fair deal. Apart from this, we got to know that there is an internal storage of 8GB in the Iconia B1, and the connectivity is not limited to just Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS but there could possibly be a slot for inserting the SIM card, so that the cellular connectivity is possible.

If Acer releases this tablet with the rumored price, we are going to see the next year with lots of companies coming up with decent tablet devices having lowered prices. If not heavy gaming or usage, these tablet devices are decent enough for Email conversations, use as an Ebook reader or keep yourself socially active through the various networks.

It could be coming into the scene from the CES 2013, or possibly from the Mobile World Congress, but if Acer manages to include the SIM card slot, this would be the best deal amongst the already wide tablet market, as the connectivity on-the-go is possible in the best way with the cellular network connectivity.
