BeBook Touch 6-inch Android Reader with Wi-Fi – Features Specs and Pricing

The European market is now seeing another touchscreen reader based on Android OS, with the name BeBook Touch and as the name suggests, the BeBook Touch would have an E-Ink touch display, sized at 6-inch which is pretty good for just the Ebook reading. Unlike many other readers in the market right now, the BeBook Touch is powered by the Android OS and the interface would be helpful in better reading of the documents.

The company claims that they have made the reader stable and easy to use but there is no mention whether we are going to see a capability to add any Android app from our side. But from what we can see from the pictures, the interface seems to be limited and you won’t be able to use it like any normal Android tablet.

What is impressive about the tablet, is the thickness and weight, which are just 9mm and 184 gm thus making the BeBook Touch a pretty light device, and a good competitor to the Kindle readers, also matching the levels of the Ebook reader by Sony. The 6-inch screen would have a resolution of 800 x 600 pixels. There is an internal memory of 4GB included in the BeBook Touch but you could expand that using a MicroSD card, if at all you think those hundreds of books stored in 4GB aren’t enough.

Along with the pds files, the BeBook Touch supports DRM protected epub files if the authorization with the Adobe Digital editions is done. The ability to connect to the web via Wi-Fi, would help in downloading books from your favorite book stores which allow the digital version download of the same. The BeBook Touch is available in Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Denmark as of now, for the price tag of £99.99/€129.99 and the company says it would launch the same in the other European nations in the coming weeks.

Any possible replacement of the Sony Reader or the Amazon Kindle seen with this Android based reader tablet? Things would looks good only if the Android allows customization and 3rd party options within, or else having Android would be of no point in the BeBook Touch. Would you consider having this only because it’s supported by Android, or go with the standard readers? do let us know in the comments.
