BSNL tagged up with the Pantel Technologies to come up with a few Android devices, and apart from the BSNL Penta Smart PS650 it’s the BSNL Penta Smart PS501, a 5-inch Android smartphone. The PS501 is a smartphone with the 5-inch IPS display having a screen resolution of 854 x 480 pixels. The phone looks quite similar to the Samsung Android smartphones from the back, but there is no front physical home button, and there are three touch based buttons below the screen.
The internal powering provided in the PS501 is similar to that of the PS650 because there is a Cortex A7 dual-core chipset with the 1.2 GHz speed, and the RAM of 512MB. But this being a smartphone, it comes with some extra connectivity with the Dual SIM feature (GSM + GSM) with the dual standby. It runs the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS and the internal storage provided in the device is 4GB with the expansion possible to 32GB with the MicroSD card.
On the rear side, the BSNL Penta Smart PS501 has a 5-megapixel camera with the LED flash, and the front one is a VGA camera for the video chatting. Just like the PS650, there is a BSNL branding in the bottom of the back panel, and the Penta branding on the front top side above the screen. The connectivity options that are included in the BSNL Penta Smart PS501 are the 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth but there is no information whether both the SIM cards would be able to connect to the 3G data networks.
The battery included in the PS501 has a capacity of 1799 mAh and the standby time expected to be provided is around 100 hours. The device with 9.6mm thickness comes with the price of Rs. 6999 in the Indian market, and it would be available at some select stores and the BSNL outlets.
