BSNL, the telecom provider in India has partnered with Pantel Technologies Private Limited (PTPL) to launch a few different devices including feature phones, Android smartphones and tablet devices. One of them in the list is the BSNL Penta Smart PS650 Android phablet with a 6.5-inch touchscreen. The Penta Smart PS650 although has a large screen, doesn’t hold a decent display because it’s the WVGA one with the resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. BSNL also launched the Penta Smart 501 phone.
The processor included in the BSNL Penta Smart PS650 is a dual-core Cortex A7 processor clocking at 1.2 GHz, and that comes along with the Mali 400 GPU. The RAM is quite low with just the 512MB which might not be good enough for running multiple applications at once. The phablet made by Pantel is very good looking and it comes in black color, and there is a BSNL branding in the bottom of the back panel.
Running the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS, the Penta Smart PS650 has got an internal storage of 4GB and the expansion is possible to 32GB with the MicroSD card. There are two cameras included in the PS650 are – 2-megapixel rear camera (with no flash support) and a VGA front-facing camera. The PS650 comes with the pre-loaded Anti-Malware functions from TrustPort. There is a bundling of BSNL 3G Data and voice minutes and that can be quite advantageous for the users, for the price at which this is being sold.
The battery included in the BSNL Penta Smart PS650 has a capacity of 2500 mAh, and the company claims that the standby time is 100 hours. The phablet comes for the price of Rs. 7999. It would be available soon at the BSNL offices and at the select offline stores as well.
