DOMO Gadgets, an Indian device manufacturer has launched the DOMO Slate X14 tablet with the target buyers being the students, mainly for the budget pricing and the support for 3G USB dongles for the internet connectivity. The 7-inch Slate X14 tablet comes with the LCD display, with the screen resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, which is not any good for such a screen size, but the dimensions look good with the 10mm thickness which is sleek when compared to several budget tablets that are thicker and heavier.
The tablet device is internally powered by the 1GHz Cortex A8 processor, and there is a support of Mali 400 GPU and 512MB of RAM to it. The device running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS with the flash support, has got 4GB of internal storage which can be further expanded to 32GB with the MicroSD card support.
The Slate X14 tablet has got a 2-megapixel rear camera and there is only one variant of this device, the Wi-Fi one with the 3G connectivity being possible only if you are connecting it through a USB dongle connected to the MicroUSB port. Coming with a battery capacity of 3000 mAh, the device can play 1080p Full HD videos.
There is nothing from the educational side in the tablet device, but the pricing is what would attract most of them because the DOMO Slate X14 is available for the price of Rs. 4,990 in the Indian market, and it competes well with the E-Tab Velo+ tablet which was recently launched with the price of Rs. 4699 which is still not a good device when you talk about the battery, the camera quality because you see a 2MP front cam in the DOMO Slate but a 0.3-megapixel one in the Lava’s tablet, and no dedicated GPU in the latter.
