Update Nov 6, 2015: With the festive season around, Gionee today has launched two new variants of the F103 smartphone in India. Designed specifically for the fashion conscious consumers the F103 smartphone is now also available in 1GB RAM and 3GB RAM variants which will ensure an even superior experience for users. The Gionee F103 is available in India at Rs. 8,499 for 1GB, Rs. 9,999 for 2GB and, Rs. 10,999 for the 3GB variant.
Earlier Oct 12, 2015: Earlier, Gionee has announced that it will launch its Made in India device, today the company has officially launched its first ‘Make in India’ smartphone ‘F103’ in Vizag. The smartphone will be assembled in partnership with Foxconn in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. The smartphone was announced in the presence of Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and the company also unveiled its plans to export its ‘Made in India’ smartphone to other South Asian countries as well as Africa.
Commenting on the launch, William Lu, President, Gionee said, “We are very excited to have begun out India manufacturing. We are very excited to have begun out India manufacturing. We would be working towards making India manufacturing a hub for not only India but nearby countries too.”
Earlier Aug 22, 2015: Gionee has launched a series of smartphones in the recent times in almost all price ranges. They have come up with their latest offering the F-series called Gionee F103. The devices under the new F-series will be more focused on design. The smartphone is launched in India today at a price of Rs. 9,999.
The device comes with a 5-inch HD 720p display and sports fragile bezels for bezel-less design. It comes with a 1.3GHz Mediatek MT6735 quad-core processor coupled with 2GB RAM and 16GB of built-in storage that can be expanded to 32GB via microSD card slot. Coming to its camera, It sports an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front camera for selfie shooters. The device offers a decent camera and is similar to other mobiles at this price range.
The device supports dual sim dual standby and connectivity includes 4G-LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, GPS/A-GPS and a microUSB port. It comes packed with a 2400mAh removable polymer Li-ion battery that offers 30hours of talk time and lasts upto 480 hours on standby and runs on Android 5.0 based Gionee’s Amigo 3.0 OS.
Gionee earlier launched Marathon M4 in India for Rs. 15,499 with a high battery capacity of 5000mAh. The smartphone maker is gearing up for another device launch with basic specifications named Pioneer P2M with a 3000mAh battery and Android 5.1 Lollipop priced at 6,999.
