Huawei Honor 7 vs Huawei Honor 6 Phone Comparison

Honor 7 vs Honor 6

Huawei launched the Honor 7 smartphone back in June in China. Today, the company has launched the Honor 7 smartphone in India. Huawei is one of the brands aiming to offer premium yet affordable smartphones to the highly competitive smartphone market and has been successful in doing that so far. Recently, the company was also ranked as the third largest smartphone maker in the world.

Honor 7 is one of those smartphones with premium build combined with high-end specs, impressive performance, and even more impressive price tag, but how does it compare with the Honor 6? Let’s check out below:

Design & Display

The Honor 6 came with a not so inspiring plastic design. Though a metal frame surrounded the edges, they were still plastic, and the front and back were just plain white or plain black. But, if switched to Honor 7 it is a more premium looking device as it sports a full metal body giving it a premium feel.

Both the Honor 7 and Honor 6 features the similar Full HD display, but the Honor 7 flaunts a 5.2-inch display that is slightly larger than the 5-inch screen seen on the Honor 6. The Honor 7 offers a slightly lower 424 pixel per inch density when compared with Honor 6 that delivers 445ppi as pixel density, but the difference is negligible, and the size is a larger factor.

Processor and Performance

Both the Honor 6 and Honor 7 comes powered by the Huawei’s HiSilicon Kirin chipsets. The only difference is the Honor 6 sports an older Kirin 920 SoC clocked at 1.7GHz with 3GB RAM while the Honor 7 features the latest Kirin 935 SoC clocked at 2.2GHz coupled with 3GB RAM. Honor 7 is one of the first smartphones apart from Huawei P8 Max to sport the latest Kirin 935 chipset.

There are certainly no lags in the performance of the Honor 6, but Honor 7 with a much-improved processor delivers slightly better performance and is surely a winner as far as performance is concerned.

Camera

The biggest change between the Honor 6 and the Honor 7 is in the camera. While the Honor 6 sports a 13MP rear camera, the Honor 7 comes with a much improved 20MP Sony IMX230 sensor with PDAF that can focus on an image in just 0.1 seconds. The rear camera on the Honor 7 is also protected by the sapphire crystal to prevent scratching and damage.

On the front, the Honor 6 comes with a smaller 5MP sensor when compared to the 8MP sensors seen on the Honor 7. Both the smartphones come with Huawei’s Beauty Mode feature. The Honor 7 also comes with two new features, first, a new selfie light that lets you take selfies in different lightening conditions and the other a new Perfect Selfie mode that allows you to pre-program your face whenever you click a group selfie.

So, both cameras on the Honor 7 have a megapixel boost and while more megapixels doesn’t always translate into better pictures in this case, there is no hesitation in saying that the Honor 7 comes with the more impressive camera as it can click much better photos than Honor 6.

Innovative Features

In terms of the smartphone innovations Honor 7 is way ahead when compared to the Honor 6. Like other flagship devices, the Honor 7 also features a fingerprint sensor on the back which the company claims it is much faster and can unlock the device in just 0.5 seconds. The Honor 7 also includes some unique features like ‘Knuckle Screenshot’ taken by double tapping using your Knuckle, it also includes Honor Smart key that can be used for faster access to apps.

Pricing & Availability

The price of the Honor 6 is Rs. 14,999 and is available offline via retail stores across India and online exclusively via Flipkart. On the other hand, the Honor 7 is launched in India today priced at Rs. 22,999 and as earlier announced by the company this device will also be available offline while Flipkart remains the exclusive online partner.
