Metis Learning, an education start-up has launched its first Android based learning tablet for kids dubbed as Eddy. This educational tablet comes with 150 learning games that are linked to school curriculum, with Maths, creativity and languages also providing kid-safe environment and development needs. This Device is launched targeting kids between 2 to 10 years old.
The educational apps for the device have been carefully picked up by testing over 50000 educational apps which are available on the Google Play store and picked the apps which are efficient and important for a kid’s curriculum. These applications were then categorized by subject and according to age also. Apart from apps the tablet gives many parental controls so that the kid cannot access social media sites or even stop children from downloading application without the parent’s permission.
With Metis Eddy parents can also control the amount of time the kids spends with the tablet and will also get a detailed reports generated from the apps. This device can be by other kids also by configuring profiles for each kid separately so that every kid has their own content (3 different profiles can be created). The tablet is also having a shock absorbing cover reducing the damage when the device is dropped.
The Metis Eddy Tablet is a 7 inch device with 5 point multi-touch display, powered by a 1.6 GHz dual core processor coupled with 1 GB RAM and will be running on Android 4.2 Jelly bean Operating System. There is a 2 MP camera on the rear and a VGA camera on the front and an 8 GB on board memory is given to the tablet with a micro SD card slot extendable up to 32 GB. It supports 3G connectivity via dongle and also other connectivity like Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, USB OTG and is powered by a 3200 mAh battery on its back.
