The Motorola Droid X2 users can now update their phone software, as Motorola has been pushing out the new version, and it has a lot of new features, advancements and bug fixes. Motorola suggests users to upgrade to the new version, as it would be giving a lot of changes and here are all the features you would see in the device:
- Keyboard remains visible during text input
- No lockup or reset of the device when the keyboard is being used
- Proper display of the characters while the text is being input
- Display of charging indicator only when the device is being charged
- Proper working of the Magic Snow live wallpaper
- Proper functioning of the home key when the device is in desktop cradle
- Successfully use the camera after the unlocking of device
- Mobile Hotspot password can now exceed the count of 63 characters
- Video quality improved for better video recording and playback
- Improved audio when streaming music live
Here are a few changes made in the apps:
- No song skipping when the MP3s are being played
- No locking up of the video while watching videos on Youtube
- Desktop cradle software working perfectly
Here is how you can update the software in the Motorola Droid X2 –
The software for the Motorola Droid X2 is around 55 MB in size, so it would take around 30 minutes for the download and installation to complete, depending on the network connection. The Over The Air software for the Droid X2 is available in two ways: OTA User Initiated and OTA Server Initiated, which can be done manually and automatically respectively.
Here is how you can update the Droid X2 OTA User Initiated:
Go to Menu > Settings > About Phone > System Updates > Download
Once you hit download, the update download would start in the phone and once the download is done you would need to install the update.

Click on “Install Now” and the installation will start with the restarting of the phone with the installing bar, which would complete to again restart the phone and then the installation process is finished.

Once the installation is done and the software is updated, you would be notified with a message on the phone that the software update was successful, and you would also see the current version the phone is running on.
