Since most of the Cyanogen Mod 10.1 builds are still in the Nightly stages, most of the firmwares are not that stable. So, in the due course of this article we will be checking out on how you can easily update your Google Nexus 10 device with this latest Jellybean 4.2.1 powered firmware. So, before we proceed with the detailed procedure, let’s go through the detailed pre requisites which you need to go through. While Google Nexus 10 smart device has already received the latest Jellybean 4.2.1 firmware update, there is not much on the official firmware front but all thanks to the custom ROM firmware makers.

Quick Pre Requisites:

  • All the data in your Google Nexus 10 smart tablet so that just in case if the data gets lost or corrupted, the same can be restored with the help of below mentioned steps.

Note: Don’t create a backup of all your data with the help of ROM Manager as it may completely brick the device.

SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

  • From the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”, enable the USB Debugging, ensure that the USB debugging option is ticked. Ensure that your tablet is rooted, to check the same you will be requiring to download the “Root Checker” app from the Google PLAY Store.

So, let’s proceed to the next step wherein you can apply this firmware update in your device once you have followed all the above mentioned pre requisite insturctions.

Procedure to Update Nexus 10 Tablet with Latest Jellybean 4.2.1 based Paranoid Custom ROM Firmware:

  • Disconnect the device so that it can be entered in the recovery mode. You can enter your device to the recovery mode with the help of ROM Manager app which can be downloaded from the Google PLAY Store. Alternatively, you can also enter your device in the recovery mode with the help of below mentioned manual method.
  • Hold the Volume Up button + the Home key button (the middle button) and while holding these both keys, press the Power button for turning the device ON in the recovery mode in your Galaxy Note.
  • In recovery mode, select “Wipe data/factory reset” & “Wipe Cache partition”. Also, select “advanced” and clear the Dalvik cache too if you are on the custom ROM firmware. Now, select the option of install zip from sd card” to select the placed paranoid custom ROM firmware and the Google Apps Package.
  • Once the file is selected, it will take around 4 -5 minutes for applying the update. To check on whether the Paranoid custom ROM firmware has been updated or not, you need to check the same from the path “Settings > About Tablet” where you will see that the current firmware version is Jellybean 4.2.1 Paranoid Custom ROM firmware.

Note: just in a rare case if the device doesn’t boot up or show the home screen then remove the battery and reinsert the same to boot the device again in the normal mode.
