Dual SIM Android phones is the talk of the week as Samsung, Motorola and now Gigabyte has announced their dual SIM mobile phones which are powered with Google’s Android operating system for mobiles and tablets. GSmart G1355 is the newly announced mid range smart phone by Gigabyte and it has 4.3 inches WVGA screen with 800 x 480 pixels resolution at 217 ppi pixel density. Yes, it does have multi touch input and it’s powered with Qualcomm MSM7227T processor clocked at 800 Mhz. It adds 512 MB of RAM and 1 GB of ROM along with a micro SD card slot to expand the memory limits on this phone. Interesting this phone is dual SIM phone with SIM 1 GSM only and SIM 2 with HSDPA and GSM connectivity allowing users to make use of two network providers in a single phone.
It has 5 mega pixel rear camera with autofocus and LED flash to take picture even in low light conditions too and there is no secondary camera provided on this smartphone. The Android version included in this mobile phone is 2.3 Gingerbread and there is no chance that this phone will be upgraded to Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich. Gigabyte didn’t come on Android 4.0 update and we are sure that it will not receive such update in future and it will stay with Android 2.3 Gingerbread only as the hardware is not compatible to run Ice Cream Sandwich smoothly.
Officially there might not be any Ice Cream Sandwich update but you can make use of custom ROM developed by various developers and have a feel of Android 4.0. It has micro USB connectivity support to your PC and have the options of Wi-Fi internet access with Wi-Fi hotspot capabilities and Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR and A2DP can be used to wireless file transfer and wireless headphones. The phone has the dimensions as 129.8 x 69.8 x 11.5 mm and weights 168 grams.
It’s powered with Lithium ion 1500 mAh battery providing a standby time of 105 hours and 6 hours talk time. The specifications of this mobile phone are pretty same as that of ZTE Skate and HTC Rhyme except this phone comes with an extra SIM card slot. GSmart G1355 will be launched at the end of February in the Mobile World Congress event which is scheduled in the last week of this month. Gigabyte didn’t reveal any information on the pricing of this smartphone and we might know of that during the event launch itself.
