After the series of leaks and rumors, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Gionee has today officially unveiled the flagship smartphone called as Gionee S8 at the MWC 2016 event in Barcelona. The Gionee is the stylish smartphone for today’s generation and comes with many innovative features. The Gionee S series is known for its slim design and the latest Gionee S8 also follows the same trend as it sports slim loop metal design and is the world’s first smartphone to feature invisible loop antenna design. Along with the smartphone, the company’s has also unveiled their new logo at the launch event.
“Given the growing popularity to share our lives with social media, we have found that users are no longer satisfied with static images, and now need active videos,” said William Lu, President of Gionee. “Gionee S8 is our first smartphone to carry our new smiling logo and enhance the video sharing experience. It allows us to record easily
our precious moments and upload them to social media platforms. Our ‘smilephone’ is involved in the process of delivering joy.”
Talking about the specifications, the Gionee S8 flaunts a 5.5-inch (1080×1920 pixels) full-HD Super AMOLED display with 2.5D arc glass and Corning Gorilla Glass 4 laid on top for protection. The smartphone also features 3D touch that was introduced by Apple in its iPhone 6s. The S8 can sense 3 levels of force including touch, tap and press. Additionally, Gionee has also included an innovative sidebar that helps the users to select the desired application by just pressing the sides of the display. The smartphone comes powered by 64-bit MediaTek MT6755 Helio P10 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz clubbed with 4GB of RAM.
As confirmed earlier, the Gionee S8 comes with an enhanced 16MP rear camera with PDAF, laser autofocus, f/1.8 aperture and dual-tone LED flash for brilliant captures even in low-light conditions. The camera also uses the RWB technology for brighter and clearer photos and videos. On the front, it has an 8MP snapper with image+ 2.0, Full Skin Beauty function and LED flash you are sure to fall in love with your selfies. The smartphone supports dual sim dual standby and runs on latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow based Amigo 3.2 UI laid on top.
The device has 64GB of built-in storage and also includes a microSD card slot for further expansion of memory. The smartphone includes connectivity options like 4G+, VoLTE, GPS/A-GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and microUSB Type-C port. The smartphone also includes a physical home button that also double’s up as fingerprint sensor for enhanced security. The handset powers a 3000mAh battery and also supports Fast Charging technology. The Gionee S8 measures 154.3 x 74.9 x 7 mm weighs around 147 grams and comes in Gold, Rose Gold and Grey color options.
