Now, after this you will have to connect the phone to the computer where you have downloaded and extracted the zip file from the above link. Please note that while connecting the USB cable you will have to make sure that the Odin software is open as mentioned and shown above, as soon as you connect the phone to the Odin, the ID COM block will turn yellow after which you will have to enter the files by clicking on the corresponding options as shown below,

  • After adding the files, the Odin will look like as shown below, please note that you should not edit any other settings or even add the options and if you have changed any by mistake then you can see in the below screen shot to match the same.

Add files Odin - Galaxy Gio

  • As soon as you feed in the files, you will have to double check the same and then you will have to proceed and click on the “Start” option to start the firmware update process. After clicking on the start, you will see that the firmware will be installed in your phone within a time of not more than 5 minutes.

Gio Flashed Successfully 1

Now, that’s it as soon as you see that the above screen is shown in the Odin, you will have to wait for the home screen to see in the phone and there you go, you have now successfully installed the latest firmware of 2.3.3 Gingerbread for your Galaxy Gio Android phone. Now, after this you will have reset the phone just to ensure that all the cache data is erased which can be done by following the below step.

could you please make a downgrade of android 2.3.3 back to 2.2.1 for gio
it is not like i did not like your upgrade it is if i find something wrong with the phone i would like to use its original os i.e android 2.2.1
    thank you

  • Willie

I’ve upgraded my GIO with 2.3.3 as described above, but what kind of languages is that what i see.
It looks like russian or something, why can’t that be English as standard.
The combination “For this you will have to first turn off your device, long press the volume up key, press Menu as holding both the buttons press the power button to start” does not work on my GIO.
If i want how can i go back to the stock firmware
    Can somebuddy shine a light.

    • http://twitter.com/pradeepneela NeaL Pradeep

wats was your stock firmware version?

      • Willie

Sorry unless it’s backedup somewhere i can’t tell anymore.
        It’s running 2.3.3 wright now.
All i can tell it was running the latest firmware according to “kies” from samsung

  • zafry

    Samsung support . Suck

  • zafry

There’s an upgrade to this version thru Kies, but suck every time I try to update only managed to do the backup. When the upgrade supposed to initiate, A massage connection to GT-s5660 lost, it’s seem that lots of guys had post on the web regarding this but till now Samsung didn’t come up with ant solution yet. )~

    • http://twitter.com/pradeepneela Neal Pradeep

      • Cordless

dude, i just flashed my phone with gingerbread.. and to my disappointment, it doesn’t support flash in the web browser.. it did install the flash player 10.3 from the market but the browser still doesn’t support flash.. any suggestions? also I couldn’t clear the cache by your method, the screen stays at arm9 mode and that’s it.. also I noticed there is a russian app on the phone.. is there a way to uninstall it? I know, I’m bothering a lot.. sorry about that.. and thank you for the awesome work..

        • http://twitter.com/pradeepneela Neal Pradeep

you will have to root your phone and then you will have to try removing the stock applications which you want to!

    • Vasko

I am facing the same problem after installing the firmware. The flash is not working on the browsers. Can you please suggest a way out? One of the major reasons to change my firmware was the flash 10.3. If that is not working then there is no point ti move from 2.2. to 2.3.

      • http://twitter.com/pradeepneela NeaL Pradeep

as of now due to some issues the flash is not working, but as soon as there is some way then we will surely update with the same!

You can clear that by selecting options Wipe data/factory reset and also you need to select Wipe Cache partition after which you need to reboot your device by selecting reboot system now after which your Galaxy S will be rebooting and again you will have to set up your Google accounts etc. Doing this will not only optimize the battery but will also remove all the data flux from your phone. Please note that the image shown below is just for the reference purpose, the actual image may vary.[/quote]

I forgot to this yesterday, just did it and none of those options appear on my screen. The only thing that comes up is: RAMDUMP Mode (ARM9 Mode).
    What does this means?

    Cheers

I have this problem too, what can i do? I realy confused, please help me

    • henriq

You+re in luck my friend — at least you obtained some garbled (?), confusing info, i wasn’t as lucky: followed religiously all the good advices hereby produced, using the seemingly correct ingredients and obtained NOTHING (except for a destroyed WI-FI capacity). Everything went accordingly descriptions up to the download mode, which stated on a stitched-like rectangle: Emergency DLoad (sic)Mode, and no droid logo image at all, but once the ODIN 4.42 COM mapping turned yellowish i clicked START and quietly waited for30 minutes and NOTHING happened: no PASS appeared — zilch| I aborted the act
by brute force clicking the far above right X tab and dismissed the whole gimmick. After rebooting verifyed everything was exactly as before no gains and jusy one loss (already referred!) and i bid my farewell to hereby promoted “upgrades”.
