- After getting into the download mode again, open the Odin from your computer and connect the tab to the computer with the help of USB cable and without changing any parameters after which the ID : COM part will turn yellow. After this you will have to tap on the “PDA” and select the file called the “dbdata.tar”.
- After selecting the file, just click on the Start button to start the process of updation. So, as soon as the updation procedure is finished you will be intimated on screen and also the device will be updated. The time taken at this stage too will be not more than a maximum of 15 minutes. Please note that in case of power failure, then you will have to start the whole procedure again.
- After the updation procedure is finished, you will see that the device will be restarted and then now you will have to clear the cache and the data which is present in the phone, as some of the data present in your Tab may get corrupted after this new firmware update.
- For wiping the cache data which is present in your Galaxy Tab, first switch off the Galaxy Tab as you will now have to power ON your device in the recovery mode. To enter into the recovery mode, long press the volume up key, press Menu as holding both the buttons press the power button to start. You can see that after device gets switched ON, you will find options like clear cache data. You can clear that by selecting options Wipe data/factory reset and also you need to select Wipe Cache partition after which you need to reboot your device by selecting reboot system now after which your Galaxy Tab will be rebooting and again you will have to set up your Google accounts etc. Doing this will not only optimize the battery but will also remove all the data flux from your phone.
For checking on which firmware you are currently on, you will have to go to the Settings > About Phone > Firmware Version where you will find the version of Android OS where it will show 2.3.3.As you can see above that we have shown some of the images of latest Gingerbread update.
Note : You will have to reconfigure the APN settings after updating the firmware to access the data services and the Internet services as all the Internet APN settings will be reset. You will have to contact your Service provider which is Verizon Wireless to get more info on the APN Settings. Not to forget also configure the MMS Settings.
