Procedure to Root Motorola Milestone:
- Download Motorola USB Drivers for 32 Bit / 64 Bit computer. Up next you need to download and install the RSD Lite tool in your computer followed by which download Vulnerable Recovery SBF File with Milestone Root Update Zip Package.
- Once you have downloaded all the tools mentioned in the above step, it’s now time for you to install the USB Drivers and then connect your phone to the computer using the original USB cable after which within a minute it will detect the device in computer.
- Rename the milestone_root.zip file to the update.zip and then copy the same in your SD Card, not deep into the folders.
- Now, remove the USB cable and enable the USB Debugging from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”.
- Run the RSD Lite tool in your computer which will show the model number as “A853” and status will be shown as “Connected”.
- Up next all you need to do is to press the “…” button after which it will browse for the file called as “vulnerable_recovery_only_RAMDLD90_78.sbf” and load the same.
- All you now need to do is to just press the “Start” button which will now be enabled. Click on Start after which the Milestone will be entering into the boot loader mode, flash the recovery firmware which you placed and then in the RSD Lite tool, you will see it as “Finished”.
- After this all you need to do is to exit the RSD Lite tool and remove the USB Cable connected from the computer. Now, next up Power Off the phone as you need to enter the phone in the recovery mode.
- Press and Hold ‘X’ button & then press the Power button till the phone boots into recovery. Now, after this you need to Press and hold the Volume Up button and press the Camera button to get into the recovery mode.
- In recovery mode, select “Clear storage” which will clear all the data which is there in your phone. After this, select “install zip from SD Card” > “Choose zip from SD Card” to select the zip file of “update.zip” which you have renamed and placed in the phone.
- It will take around 3 minutes to apply this firmware in your phone, once the process is over you will again land up in the recovery mode screen. Select “++++ Go Back ++++” and choose “reboot system now” to restart the device normally.
