After the latest update of ICS Android 4.0 firmware which is dubbed as 9.4.2.11 you can now root the firmware with just few simple steps. In the due course of this article we will be checking out the same. Please be informed that once you root your tablet, the warranty will get void. The only way with which you can reclaim the lost warranty is by applying the stock firmware again in your tab. For all those who are not on ICS Android 4.0 firmware, this method won’t be working. Thanks to XDA member -viperboy- who has come up with this workaround for this to work perfectly.
Disclaimer: We should not be held responsible in any manner in whole or in parts if anything wrong happens to your device after following the instructions though it is very unlikely if you follow the instructions which are mentioned in this article carefully.
Note: After the rooting process if you are unable to access the Internet, then you will have to re configure the APN settings after updating the firmware to access the data services and the Internet services as all the Internet APN settings will be reset. You will have to contact your Service provider to get more info on the APN Settings. Not to forget also configure the MMS Settings.
SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”
- Please note that you should at least have a battery life of more than 50% just to ensure that the Asus Transformer doesn’t get turn Off in the middle of the process of firmware update.
- Disable all the tools like Security Suites, Firewall tools along with the PC Suite as these software suites tend to interrupt the update process. The APN Settings are located in this path, Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names.
So assuming that you have followed all the instructions mentioned above, it’s now time to head to next page where we have summed up a detailed guide on how to root your device.
