Galaxy S2 Official Jellybean 4.1.2 XXLSJ Firmware Update with 50GB Dropbox Space
Procedure to Upgrade Galaxy S2 GT I9100 firmware with Official Jellybean 4.1.2 Firmware:
- Download the Complete Official Jellybean 4.1.2 Package (Alternate Link) from here to your computer to extract the same. Once extracted, open odin in your computer and turn Off your device so that it can be entered in the download mode.
- Download mode in Galaxy S II GT I9100 can be entered by pressing Volume down Key, Center button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button after which a green robot will be shown indicating the Download Mode has been entered.
- Open Odin in your computer. Connect your device to the computer with the help of original USB cable and then you will see that the ID : COM Section will turn Yellow.
Note: If ID : COM section doesn’t turn Yellow, you need to check with two things which are mentioned below,
- Install the USB Drivers in your computer &
- Go to the Path “Settings > Wireless & Network > USB Settings” and ensure that “Samsung KIES” option is ticked before connecting the phone to the computer.
- Now, click on the below mentioned options to select the appropriate files.
PDA – CODE_I9100XXLSJ
Phone – MODEM_I9100XXLS6
CSC – CSC_HOME_OXX_I9100OXXLS1
- Once you have selected all the files, you will need to click on “Start” to start the process of firmware update. It will take around 4 -5 minutes for applying the update and once the update process is over, the device will be rebooted automatically.
- Once the device restarts, the phone will show up the home screen and all you need to do is to just follow the on screen instructions for starting the device. To check on whether the firmware has been successfully updated or not, head over to the path “Settings > About Phone” where the current firmware will be mentioned as Jellybean 4.1.2. Very soon we will be coming out with an article which will help you root the device.
Note: Just in a rare case if the device doesn’t boot up or show the home screen then remove the battery and reinsert the same to boot the device again in the normal mode.

It works beautifully, easy to install. But I found a small problem, even with the data network mode enabled, I do not get the 3G from the mobile network anymore. However, with the WiFi on it is working. How do I correct this situation.

This is a fantastic ROM. Thanks for the sneak preview. Do you know why ROM manager will only back up to internal sd card, it no longer asks whether i want to back up to the external sd card like it used to. I have remounted the card in recovery but it doesn’t seem to make any difference.

Works great no prbs. But missing lots of features im used 2. Such as hold backkey to kill app, brightness control on notification bar. Im hoping for the root guide, cause it will take a while to get it as I want. It does have some cool features though, better keyboard similar to swiftkey, read contacts aloud on receiving sms, call
I just found a very annoying feature/issue. When im scrolling up/down in browser it suddenly starts to zoom into page. Did anyone else encounter this. Is there an option to stop it?

Hi Pradeep, I have been using this update since yesterday but today suddenly my phone started acting strange. Whenever I swipe the screen or open any folder the voice command gets activated. I tried every possible things but unfortunately no success. Please help its very annoying.

seems like i am having some issues here, i have ICS 4.0.3 build nos IML74kk.xxlpq downloaded to my s2. the green robot comes when i press volume up key, instead of volume down key. when i connect the phone and starts the ODIN it dosent change the color to yellow. I am not able to find the samsung kies in the wifi settings probably it being a ICS and may be it is located somewhere else.
Not sure if you can stop it, but it is a feature that it zooms when you scroll on the side edges of the screen. Seems ok.
Think its a feature only does that for me when the scrolling to far right. In the middle is fine. Working like a pc touch pad.

Are you maybe using the TiltToZoom option (Motion, under settings)?
Use the right screen edge to zoom in and the left to zoom out. Scroll using the middle of the screen. Takes a bit of getting used to.
Ignore this advice. Zooms either side. Battery does not drain fast.
I dont think this as an issue.. its a new feature.. u need to scroll it a little bit on the middle of the screen.. if u scroll it on the left/right of the screen.. it will automaticly zoom in/zoom out..

Hi pradeep, I have applied this rom today, and it looks awesome, but the main problem I faced is that when I update my phone to this rom, I face the problem of sim lock, so I had to revert back to ICS and then root and unlock my phone, and tried the update again and same problem, is there any solution to this?
you need to apply on the unlocked device

yes you can apply this update! there is no resolution for sim lock, you will need to get it unlocked

hey pradeep…!! don’t know wats wrong with my s2 i9100 (India). everytime i try to appy any of the update, including this one, odin gives me “FAIL” msg. its currently running ICS 4.03 official update. have tried earlier 4.04 updates, but get the same msg always… pls help..
updated my I9100 successfully yesterday, but when i make a call, it drops after one minute with the error message “Unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped”
After that the network goes off, comes up mins later. Am kind of frustrated, need help pls

Not so sure. Updated via Odin here in Aus and no 50 GB extra Dropbox. Same on 2 seperate phones. Downloaded DropBox app. No email, no 50 GB. Nothing in the setup wizard. Wonder if it is region specific?

Since my question in the “Facebook Comments” section remains unanswered here I repeat the same:
In your previous guides for leaked official updates via odin, always the last step after updating was to restart into in recovery mode for “Wipe data/factory reset” followed by “Wipe Cache partition”. Here you have not included those. Are they necessary still or not?

Yesterday I posted a comment which was not published. I have the same question. Is this Jelly bean update working in India, if not, when is it expected to come out. Please reply, I am getting tempted to root the phone for a custom Jelly Bean ROM but I want to wait for the official update if it is near. I also tried downloading the Jellybean.rar file from this post, but it is not able to download it as too many downloads are done for this file.

i am failing to install new rom. my phone gets to green robot and writes: downloading…do not turn off target.
on the computet in odin it says: id:com [o:com 16]
then the process hangs like that for a long time. sometimes it says device could not be connected or nothing. for a long time.
check with the usb port and install the samsung usb drivers from samsung.com
as addition, odin does not turn yellow

Upgraded ok works very well. Only 2 issues encountered are unable to add email account with Exchange server setting using SSL. Also Lync not working either. Is this a simple config issues related to SSL or certificates?

Hi Everyone, I really need to get this problem sorted, please someone help me in getting the voice payback off whenever I switch between screen or open or close any folders.For the time being I have turned off the media volume (Music and Video) so that it stops saying everything I do on the home screen, but I need a permanent resolution.

Does anyone know how after the update to turn on silent mode when the phone is turned over onto its face? Im also finding the lock screen a bit buggy as it sometimes freezes.

I think its not turn into silent mode.. it will only pause/silent music player/ringtones.. you need to turn on the motion in the setting.. “Turn over to mute/pause”

Great walk-through, it’s been the smoothest one yet! Brilliant ROM, very happy with it. One issue. After installing, I’ve noticed my internal memory has dropped to 4GB, from just under 12GB before? Not too much of an issue as I have a 32GB MicroSD card, but it would be interesting to know if anyone else has experienced this?

1) Cannot join/merge contacts.
2) Doesn’t give the JB Buttery experience.
3) Lags sometimes.

Please get me out of this bro. Also the battery runs out very fast. If there is no resolution, can you let me know how to go back to ICS 4.0.4…please.

I have ICS 4.0.4 on my SGS2 9100. Few days ago, I wanted to make JB update to offical 4.1.2 as described in text. But I have big problem in installing via Odin. Com field doesn’t turn yellow and suggested solving option doesn’t exsist in Settings on my S2. Process fails with hour lasting message Downloading… on phone screen. Please help, because two of my friends also have same problem !!
