How to Update HTC Evo 3D CDMA with Leaked ICS 4.0.3 Firmware

  • Minimum charge left in the device should be at least 60% so as to ensure that device doesn’t get turned Off in the middle of firmware update.
  • Enable the USB debugging in your HTC Evo 3D from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”. The USB Debugging option should be ticked. USB Debugging Mode can only be enabled once you disconnect the phone from computer. USB Debugging should be ticked.

  • Disable all the antivirus suites in your computer and uninstall the same in your device as these tools generally tend to interrupt the process of firmware update.

        well, this article states that you dont have to be rooted to do this and it says it will not root your phone,, i just have the latest version that is up to date from sprint. if it doesnt root the phone then i wont have a problem bringing it back to sprint if somethign went wrong but im assuming i would need to downgrade back to my current firmware.. what im asking is how do i get back to the current state that im in if something goes wrong, since my phone is not rooted and i cant unroot the phone since its not rooted,,, i dont want to root the phone but i want to install this rom,, any suggestions would help out alot

            i understand that but after i complete the upgrade, if somethign goes wrong in a few weeks and i need to go into the sprint store, how do i downgrade back to my current firmware number as im assuming sprint will be pissed that my firmware is 4.03 prior to it being officially released,

            I don’t think Ryan is asking if it will root the phone. I think he’s asking will he be able to go back to the stock gingerbread rom, or whatever rom he’s using, just in case it doesn’t work. I would also like to know this.

    yeah i tried this and i when i booted into recovery it went straight to a black screen with a phone and red triangle icon. how do i make it work? i thought u said you DO NOT need root access

    so tell me why this is not working…i get to the recovery mode and it wont open my sd card,i even wiped it and re did everything and it still wont open my card…tell me whats up plz.

    Where is the “OK button” during the “PRESS THE VOLUME UP + OK Botton” in the recovery mode directions? I couldl’nt figure that out and reset using ” Volume Down+ Power button” but when I press “recovery” in give me the dreaded “Red Triangle” so I just pull the battery and started typing.

    I’m just curious, is there a fix in the works for the 3D camera and 3D video features. Also a biggie is not being able to use Netflix after flashing to a custom rom. Now I wish I could go back to the original firmware, even though all these ICS roms look and behave so sexy. Other than the major issues about Netflix, Hulu+ and 3D not working.
