how old is this … there’s no ok on the phone or in it .

okay, those who see the red triangle: you either didn’t have the device rooted or if DID rooted then did not have clockworkMod recovery installed.. even if you did installed it, you have wiped it by “several ways of doing so” no need to panic, there are rare cases that the 4G Inspire has been bricked, and even so it can be revived by resetting cpu by a professional Repair Shop…
If you got to a point of exhibitions there are two ways to fix the problems u have.. 1) by downloading an official RUU and running via your pc,, or, 2) By uploading it through the SD Card using PD98IMG via HBoot..
For an official RUU download search for ((htc_inspire 4g_att_RUU_3.20.502.52_US)) “Be sure to chose the correct RUU according to your model, make, and the carrier” connect you HTC to your PC via USB and run the RUU.. IT takes a bit for it to get initiated, so be patient..
. For flashing using PD98IMG HBoot method search for ((PD98IMG_Ace_Gingerbread_S_Cingular_US_2.47.502.7_Radio_12.56.60.25_26.10.04.03_M_release_200368_rooted)) (Change the name to = ) case sensitive, and put it in your SD Card not in any folder just the root of the SD Card. Then, hold the volume-down button and press the power button, then rest happens on its own.. ( Good Luck )

I have a nice phone but its being left behind. My HTC Inspire was a phone I was proud of. ICE is nice. There are several features I would use regularly. I’m disappointed that the same phone – Desire, gets an update I don’t. I’m not sure why HTC is leaving me behind, but this could influence my next buying decision. If my phone was not in warranty I would root it.

Well , this ROM is rooted phones only , will not work if you didn’t root it , you will be stock on triangle screen .
Other thing clean data and cache , after installing ROM , then reset the phone and it will start .

It’s a custom ROM you idiot, not firmware, HTC has yet to release the actual HTC firmware and kernel for ICS. What a stupid f*ck

    • Reply Pradeep Neela June 15, 2012 at 3:01 pm

super wipe is a must, you need to use it to wipe all the cache data

    • Reply Pradeep Neela June 15, 2012 at 3:01 pm

Be aware camera will not work correctly , autofocus barely works , about 20% picture is not there , plus video and ponorama does not work .
Other then that it works perfectly , fast , no lags , fully functional . I’m happy with it .

Okay so I successfully performed this ROM implementation using the ACE Hack Kit and the files provided above. I was also stuck on the boot loading screen until clearing my cache and other data from the boot recovery screen. I have a serious problem however. My Camera is essentially non-functional now. About 1/5 of each picture is distorted. No clue why. Camera worked perfect before this update. And now of course I can’t go backwards. I almost wish I hadn’t done the update now. A camera is a huge feature to lose…

I am using AT&T’s HTC Inspire 4G mobile,
I’ve also same problem, i’d as specified procedure in the above, but it takes times to update, i wait 30-40 minutes but didn’t complete the update, even i pull back battery and try again and again but problem is same, my phone didn’t start, its looping in update, now how do i get back from this problem?

  14. Reply lazyone May 7, 2012 at 1:16 pm

As said above, don’t forget to wipe data. Stuck in boot mode forever, decided wipe data, reinstall ics, all is well.

Side note, everything listed above works, except, the video recorder. Causes camera app to crash. Still shots do work, with flash too.

Stop trying to root your phone, you can get access to your phone by some other nice apps just by downloading them from a website. Plus, by rooting you void your warranty which sucks… Now go do your homework.

Everyone trying and failing to obtain root from this thread, please read this:
This page shows non-detailed and incorrect iinstructions on rooting and installing an ICS rom created by a developer from the community. the graphic above is mine and was used without my permission, but whatever.
So anyone who is new to rooting/ installing roms, this is no place to start.
There are 2 things you need to know.
1: rooting is a process in wich an android user obtains root permission through a process (hacking) there phone. It is not dangerous if you do this correctly, so please fallow this link closely:

    2: Installing a ROM
a rom is a version of an OS (android) that a user can install on there device once they have Root. The rom shown above is a ROM developed by extinz from this link:

please only download this ROM from this link. if you download it from anywhere else it you wont see the credit that is deserved for the developer. Please read his instructions carefully, and remember, this part comes AFTER you seccessfully root your device.

  22. Reply Seth February 28, 2012 at 1:34 pm

Spoke too soon…this is broken. Hangs on boot everytime. You will have to factory reset.

  23. Reply Seth February 28, 2012 at 1:07 pm

Got it to work. Use Ace Hack Kit to root and the volume DOWN + power button to get into recovery mode. Everything else looks good.

  24. Reply Seth February 28, 2012 at 11:29 am

I tried this and I get the phone with red triangle error after entering recovery mode. Article doesn’t say we have to be rooted..Do you have to be?
