So, before proceeding you need to Root the device and please note that once the device is rooted the warranty gets void. The only way with which you can reclaim the lost warranty is by again un rooting the device by following the instructions in the above mentioned link.

Pre Requisites:
- In the process of firmware update, there is a possibility of data getting lost or corrupted, so you need to back up the same. You can backup or restore the data by using the tips which are mentioned below.
Notes – Backup in the mail so that you can then restore manually
SMS Messages – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts Stored in Phone Memory – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Videos, Images, Videos & Files etc.– Copy to internal / External SD Card,
Internet & MMS Settings – Backup all the settings from “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”
- Minimum battery left in the device should be at least 60% so as to ensure that the device doesn’t get turned Off in the middle of firmware update.
- Enable the USB debugging in your phone from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”. The USB Debugging option should be ticked. USB Debugging Mode can only be enabled once you disconnect the phone from computer. USB Debugging should be ticked.
- Disable all the security and Antivirus suites in your computer and uninstall all the antivirus apps in your phone as all these tools may interrupt the process of firmware update. Also, Firewall should be disabled in your computer.
