How To Update Samsung Galaxy SL I9003 with Official Gingerbread 2.3.5 DDKPG Firmware
Special Advisory: Proceed with the instructions if and only if you are from India and has Samsung Galaxy SL I9003 phone. This update is not recommended by the users of any other region.
Users who faced issues with the Gingerbread 2.3 release like XXKPM as well as other versions can now update with a new version of firmware of DDKPG Gingerbread 2.3. This update was recently released by Samsung Electronics via KIES. This update can’t be applied if you have recently updated your Galaxy SL I9003 with XXKPM version or any other. Recently it has been found that users were facing many issues with the beta firmwares and this firmware of DDKPG comes as a huge respite for all of them.
In the due course of the article we will see on what are the list of pre requisites followed by the list of instructions to apply this update of Gingerbread 2.3.4.
Please note that applying this update won’t root the device in any manner, hence the warranty stays intact. Also, just in case if you have rooted the phone earlier then after updating with this version, the rooting access is revoked. Also, applying this update won’t require you to root your device. Note: Please note that this update is only valid for the users having the device with the model number as Samsung Galaxy SL I9003 and not with any other similar looking models like I9000 etc.

Before proceeding you strictly need to follow the pre requisite as mentioned so to avoid from the post firmware upgrade issues which are mentioned below.
Pre Firmware Upgrade Instructions:
- Charge your phone’s battery to the minimum of 70% before proceeding just to make sure that device doesn’t get turned Off in the process of firmware update.
- Backup all the data which is in the phone memory, so that if any of the data is corrupted or lost can be restored back easily. Follow the backup and restore tricks which are mentioned below.
Text messages – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Phone Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log - Call Log and Restore
Pictures, Music, Videos, Files etc.– Copy to internal / External SD Card,
Internet & MMS Settings – Backup all the settings from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”
- Enable the USB Debugging from the path Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging as shown in the below screenshot. Disable all the tools like Firewalls, Antivirus suites and KIES in your computer as these tools tend to interrupt he process of the firmware update.
Instructions to Users on Custom ROMs:
If you are on any of the custom ROMs then you need to turn Off the phone so that the Recovery MODE can be turned ON in the phone. The recovery mode can be entered by pressing Volume Up Key + OK button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button. You can also refer to the Video below to know more on how to enter the phone into the recovery mode.
The recovery mode can be entered by pressing Volume UP + Center button, and holding both simultaneously press the Power Button. In the recovery mode, select Wipe data/factory reset and also you need to select Wipe Cache partition and then reboot your device by selecting reboot system now option. This process will basically clear all the cache data which is present in your phone.
In the recovery mode, if you see the “advanced” option then select he same and disable the “Voodoo” options if at all there are any and alternatively you need to clear the battery stats too. After this select “Go back” and then choose the options like Wipe data/factory reset, Wipe Cache partition and then select reboot system now to reboot he phone.
