Pre Requisites:

  • All the data like SMS, Contacts, Call log, APN, MMS Settings and other data present in your internal SD should be backed up so that just in case if the data gets erased or corrupted, the same can be restored with the help of below mentioned steps. Remove the SIM card as well as SD Card from your phone as its recommended to remove the same.

SMS – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
Call Log – Call Log and Restore
Images, Songs, Videos, Files – Copy to internal / External SD Card,
APN and MMS Settings – Note down from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names

  • Disable all the antivirus suites in your computer and uninstall the same in your device as these tools generally tend to interrupt the process of firmware update.
  • Minimum charge left in the device should be at least 60% so as to ensure that device doesn’t get turned Off in the middle of firmware update.
  • Enable the USB Debugging in your SONY Ericsson Xperia RAY from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”. The USB Debugging option should be ticked as shown in the below screen capture. (Below image is just for Illustration and may differ in your device).

    Hello Pradeep

I am trying to upgrade the OS for Sony Xperia Ray. At the time of flashing, the buck stops at
    29/053/2012 14:53:55 – INFO – Android version : 2.3.4 / kernel version :
and a pop up window is appearing with the 4 options
    1 – Unplug the device
2 – Power off the device
3 – Press the back button and hold it
4 – Plug the USB cable

its been 10mins since I hooked up the mobile for flashing, but cannot see anything further. Does it take longer time? Do I have to follow the above 4 options now?
    Please advise.

I UPGRADED MY SE ray phone with ICS 4.03 which i bought a month ago after that, i end up heaps of problems.

    – Occupy’s more RAM memory

I tell you guys don’t update xperia ray mobile with ICS 4.03…this is my last SE phone and will never buy Sony Ericsson again. I chatted with customer service, she asked me to follow a link and connect the phone, it doesn’t work and still the same story.

When i asked customer service -Sony Ericsson for a solution to fix the above problems, they themselves do not know what to do…..

I am wondering why sony ericsson released update for their phones which makes their customer unhappy. I am fed up now, I never had problems with my old nokia – symbian phones.

Xperia Ray’s back button is touch sensitive, how to “Press the back button and hold it”, then “Plug the USB cable”?

first of all. my device shows in flashtool as ST18i not as LT18i. and then after clicking on the “Ok” tab to start the process of firmware. suddently gives a message saying that to unplug & off the device & press & hold the back flashtool software shows that flashing is cancelled. please help me on that.
