Procedure to Update Xperia RAY with Official 4.1.A.0.562 ICS 4.0.3 Firmware:
- Download the Flash Tool and then download the update from here to your computer and rename as “B”. Now, extract the folder “B” and place all the contents in the flashtool folder that is in “C:/flashtool”. In the process of doing so, it will ask whether to replace the files, you need to select “yes”.
- Now, run the Flashtool.exe and then go to the path C:/ Drive > flashtool > firmwares > delete everything present and exit.
- Up next you will have to Download the Official ICS 4.0.3 Firmware Package for Xperia Ray from here and extract the same to get the .ftf file
- Now, you need to place this ftf file in the path C:/ > flashtool> firmwares > and paste the same here.
- Run the flash tool executable file in your computer and then click on the “flashing icon” situated at the left side as shown in the below screen capture. Select “flashmode > Ok”. On the left box, you must see that the firmware name will be mentioned.
- On the right hand side, you need to enter the selections as made in the below screen capture. Ensure that all the options are selected exactly the way it’s mentioned below.
- After all the selections, you need to click on the “Ok” tab to start the process of firmware update. As soon as the firmware update process is done, you will then be told to remove the connected USB cable and it will take around 5 – 10 minutes for rebooting the device as the firmware update needs to be applied in the device which takes bit time.
- So, that’s it you can then check the current firmware from the path “Settings > About Phone” where it will show the current firmware as 4.1.A.0.562
Note: just in case if the phone doesn’t get updated successfully, you need to repeat the whole process from the start.
