ZTE announced the Grand S3 smartphone at MWC, today. It is the first smartphones to use an eye-based biometric solution from EyeVerify.The ZTE Grand S3 will launch with Eyeprint ID, which will allow the user a password-free method of unlocking their device. Eyeprint ID has authentication time for smart devices, as fast as 800 milliseconds,as claimed by the company.
Eyeprint ID technology uses built-in cameras of smartphones to image and then pattern match the blood vessels in the whites of users’ eyes for highly accurate, fast and convenient mobile identity protection.The technology was commercially made available in early January 2015. .
The smartphone features a 5.5-inch Full HD display. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor coupled with 3GB of RAM. The smartphone has 16GB internal storage and a 3100 mAh battery. The ZTE Grand S3 was initially launched domestically in China on January 7.
