After smartphones and smart tablets, it’s time for the full-fledged laptops based on Google OS in the year 2015. With Microsoft’s Windows capturing the desktop computing landscape, Android is seen as the next big opportunity for bigger screens. The motive of Chromebook is to do the same but unfortunately despite being in the market for quite a few years, Chromebook was not successful in capturing the substantial market share. If you could recollect, then Acer already had 13.3 inched Chromebook which was priced at around $330/ $279.99 for a touch screen / non-touch screen variant respectively.
It’s 2015 and Acer wants to give Chromebook a try and will be showcasing the 15.6 inched laptop running on the Android OS. So let’s check out in detail on what are the specs and features of this new device which is dubbed as “Chromebook 15”. We have also mentioned the photos of this Chromebook below.
Specs and Features:
Chromebook 15 comes with the 15.6 inched of screen size which is larger than 27% larger than compared to the 13.3 inches of screen size. This laptop comes with the Full HD screen with resolution of 1920 x 1080p. The 2nd option comes with the HD screen of 1366×768. This new laptop comes with various hardware options with a choice of Intel Core i3 or the next generation Celeron processor, 2GB or 4GB of RAM or either a 16GB or 32GB SSD for storage While the detailed list of specs are awaited, this laptop comes with the weight of 4.85 pounds (2.2kg) along with the decent battery life. This Chromebook just like all other Chromebooks comes packed with the Google suite of products with more storage features etc.
The dimensions of this Chromebook are 393w x 256d x 24.2h mm (15.4w x 10.08d x 0.95h inches). In terms of connectivity options, this device comes with the MIMO 2x2Wifi 802.11ac connectivity along with the Bluetooth 4.0, the USB 3.0 port, USB 2.0 port, HDMI port and SD Card reader.
Price and Availability:
Prices for the new Chromebook 15 will start at $249.99 and will be initially available only in US. Global availability details are not announced by Acer. This device from Acer will be available for showcase at CES 2015.
