Alcatel, as teased earlier, has officially announced two new flagship smartphones in its Idol series called as Alcatel Idol 4 and Idol 4s at the MWC 2016 event in Barcelona. The company has also announced that it is withdrawing its OneTouch branding and will now just be called as ALCATEL. These are the best devices launched by Alcatel to date and will be showcased at their respective booths at the ongoing event. Both the smartphones feature premium looks with a glossy unibody design, in-mold spin effect texture and metal frame around its sides. Apart from this, the company has also partnered with JBL and Waves audio brands for the enhanced sound experience.

Alcatel Idol 4
The Idol 4 flaunts a 5.2-inch (1080×1920 pixels) full-HD IPS LTPS display offering a pixel density of 424ppi. Under the hood, it packs Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor clocked at 1.7GHz paired with Adreno 405 GPU for the lag-free and smooth performance of the device. The device supports dual sim dual standby and runs on latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. It has 3GB of RAM, 16GB of built-in storage and also includes an externalSD card slot for expansion upto 512GB. The handset powers a 2610mAh battery and also supports Quick Charging.
On the photographic section, the smartphone sports a 13MP primary camera with dual-tone LED flash and an 8MP front-facing camera for video calling and selfie lovers. Interestingly, the device also has a front flash for captures in low-light conditions. Connectivity options on the smartphone include 4G-LTE, Wi-Fi, GPS/A-GPS, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC and microUSB port with OTG functionality. The smartphone features powerful 3.6-watt dual stereo speakers with Smart PA, BOOM Key Experience Booster, and Hi-Fi audio technology. The dimensions of the device measure 147 x 72.5 x 7.1 mm and weighs around 135 grams.
Alcatel Idol 4s
The Idol 4s features a 5.5-inch (2560×1440 pixels) 2K AMOLED display with 534ppi as pixel density and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 laid on top of it for protection. The smartphone comes equipped with Snapdragon 652 octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz clubbed with Adreno 510 GPU and 3GB of RAM. The device supports dual sim dual standby and has connectivity options like 4G-LTE, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi, GPS/A-GPS, NFC and microUSB port with OTG support. It has 32GB of internal storage and also includes a microSD card slot for expansion upto 512GB.
On the camera cordon, the smartphone features a 16MP rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, video stabilization and can also record videos in slow-mo. On the front, it has an 8MP snapper accompanied with LED flash and real-time beautification to capture stunning selfie images. Like the Idol 4, the smartphone also features dual 3.6W stereo speakers with Smart PA and Hi-Fi audio technology for superior audio quality. The handset packs a slightly larger 3000mAh battery and also supports Fast Charging technology. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based company’s customized UI laid on top out of the box.
As confirmed earlier, the Alcatel Idol 4 and Idol 4s also comes with an innovative packaging that can transform into VR Headsets for virtual reality and 360-degree viewing and gaming experience. The smartphones also have OneTouch VR Store app to download and enjoy virtual reality content or stream online via LittlStar. The devices come in Gold, Dark Grey, Rose Gold and Metal Silver color variants. The pricing and availability of the impressive smartphones are yet to be revealed by the company.
