Google Play Services v8.1 is the latest release from Google and will soon be hitting the Play Stores around the globe which comes with many new exciting changes. For all those who wanted to know on what are the changes, then this new update prepares the upcoming Android Pay and also it changes the naming variant for lollipop devices and also supports Lollipop based devices.
The long anticipated Kids account is also there in this new update which will soon be improvised and enabled in the device itself. This new update is the big change to the convention which Google uses for identifying Play services apk variants for various devices. Let’s check out in detail individually on what are the new things which are packed in this update.
Android Pay:
Android Pay is now being packed into the latest version of Google Play Services and also this has been activated from the backend by Google which got delayed by couple of days. After this, Android users are being told to update/ install the Google Wallet app from the Play Store so that they can setup the Android Pay piece. If you wanted to use Android Pay, its mandatory that you need to setup the pattern lock feature for security purposes. Additionally, Android Pay appears in the Tap & Pay screen and in the Device Administrator list. Just FYI, Android Pay was announced in the Google I/O 2015 event.
Kids Account:
Kids account was the talk of the town in the Google I/O 2015 event and now it seems to be slowly being pushed to the devices via this new Play Services update. Parents can get the physical location of the device through location services. Parents can also create the families as of now which will be later used by the apps. In coming days to come we will be seeing more of apps using the Kids account functionality.
