The French-based electronics company, Archos is known for launching smartphones with decent specifications at affordable price tags. The brand has now launched a new budget smartphone called as Archos 50d Oxygen. The device comes with impressive specifications and will be attracted by customers who does not like to spend much out of their pockets. The Archos 50d Oxygen is the successor of the 50c Oxygen that launched a couple of years ago. The smartphone is priced at $149 and will be available for purchase starting May 2016.
Regarding specifications, the Archos 50d Oxygen flaunts a 5-inch (1080×1920 pixels) full-HD IPS full lamination display offering 441ppi as pixel density and Corning Gorilla Glass for protection. The smartphone comes powered by 64-bit MediaTek MT6753 octa-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz paired with Mali-T720 MP3 GPU for smooth and lag free performance. It supports dual sim dual standby and includes connectivity options like 4G-LTE/3G HSPA+, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS, Wi-Fi and a microUSB 2.0 port. The smartphone has 2GB of RAM, 16GB of built-in storage and can be further expanded to 32GB using a microSD card slot.
On the photographic section, the device sports a 13MP primary camera with autofocus, LED flash and can record videos at 1080p resolution at 30fps. On the front, it has a 5MP snapper for video chats and crisp selfie images. The handset packs a 2100mAh battery and runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop based company’s customized UI out of the box. The dimensions of the smartphone measure 141.4 x 70.8 x 8.2 mm weighs around 140 grams and will come in Black and Gold color variants.
To recap, Archos has recently launched two new smartphones in its Diamond-series called as Archos Diamond 2 Plus and Archos Diamond 2 Note and was also showcased at the MWC 2016 event in Barcelona. The Archos Diamond 2 Plus features 5.5-inch 1080p 2.5D display, Helio P10 octa-core SoC, 4GB of RAM, 64GB storage, 20MP primary camera, fingerprint sensor and USB Type-C port. On the other hand, the Archos Diamond 2 Note comes with a 6-inch 2K display, Helio X10 octa-core SoC, 3GB RAM, all-metal body, fingerprint sensor, 16MP camera, 3610mAh battery and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.
