Asus has earlier launched a selfie-centric smartphone dubbed as Asus Zenfone Selfie with 13MP front and rear cameras priced at Rs. 15,999. Now, the company is all set to launch a new camera-centric smartphone called as Asus Zenfone Zoom. The device was first showcased at the CES event held in January 2015, later it was re-announced at IFA 2015 event, but it is not yet available for consumers. Recently, the device was certified by TENAA with the model number ‘ZOOXSB‘ and is confirmed to launch on December 1st.
According to the listing, the Zenfone Zoom features a 5.5-inch (1080×1920 pixels) Full-HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top of it. It comes powered by Intel Atom Z3580 quad-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz coupled with PowerVR G6430 GPU. The device is expected to come with 2GB/4GB RAM, 16/32/64/128GB of internal storage with microSD card slot for expansion upto 64GB.
The main USP of the Zenfone Zoom is its camera, the device sports a 13MP rear camera with the 3x optical zoom module, OIS, laser autofocus and dual tone LED flash. The company claims that Zenfone Zoom is the thinnest smartphone to feature a camera having 3x optical zoom. On the front, it has a 5MP shooter for video calling and selfie lovers.
Connectivity options on the dual sim capable device include 4G-LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and microUSB port. Even with these specifications the handset measures 11.95mm at its thickest and weighs around 185 grams. The smartphone will be available in Black and White color variants and is expected to be priced around $399 (approx Rs. 26,500) as earlier announced by the company.
